Alrighty, reports from several planets tell us there's currently an influx of new players. So what can we do? Brainstorming first! 1. Improving the newbie related wiki pages 1.1 Calypso Gateway (+ related mission pages) - would be great to have an image showing several Community Advisors in their blue outfit at gateway, doable? - would also be great to have a complete list of the Community Advisor avas, doable? - [STRIKE]it's really necessary to have the new positions of some of the NPCs who have been changed after "open house"[/STRIKE] - some of the mission pages still lack info - Guide by Zar is great! 1.2 Port Atlantis (+ related mission pages) - mainly the missions are not completey documented 1.3 City of Dreams 1.3 Beginners:Portal - check this thread 2. Guides Bring guides. Maybe you have one somewhere, maybe you even submitted one for the FPC contest. Maybe you didn't create one yourself but you know of one. No matter the size: could be a 1 line tip, a map or an 'Alice Guide'. No matter the format: can be plain text, images, even ppt or pdf or youtube videos. Maybe you can help to improve the few guides that are on the wiki already: Guides Most wanted I would say (some of them available on the wiki but needing an update/improvement): - Which planet to choose? (-> Planets) - Movement & Controls - Missions Guide (Guide) - Sweating & Swunting - Security & Scamming - [STRIKE]How to join a society[/STRIKE] 3. Support the Adopt-A-Newbie Foundation Link: ANF Maybe you can increase your adoption rate temporarily. If your soc didn't sign up to the ANF yet this is the best moment to do so. 4. Beginners Events & Services Two lists: - One with events suitable for beginners such as (Shameless Theft, Rocktropia Flea Markets, ...) - One with services for beginners (such as ETA, ANF, Calypso Rescue Service, ...) Both need to be maintained of course. And so on! Please help! Giving the new players a smooth start in game and in 'the community' should be in everyone's interest.
Well, I can certainly advise them on how to hunt in in an un-eco manner, dont know bugger all about this eco stuff :) And hence let them know where the Depo button is hehehe
I uploaded fresh pics here http://www.entropiaplanets.com/forums/calypso-gateway/3841-welcome-gateway.html The gateway was busy so I did not take the time to get the perfect pics. The Wikii changes should be: The manufacturing and mining officials are now next to the hunting official at the same counter. The other one is empty. Manufacturing official is at 69762, 69827, 224 Mining Official is at 69762, 69829, 224 Teleport operator is at 69759, 69847, 225 The Teleport is at 69755, 69851, 225 All other NPC locations are the same.
I looked over the Wikii again. There are still the 14 original missions, a 15th has been added called understanding the teleporter. This gives general information about how the teleporter works and the operator also reminds the player which of general missions they have completed or not. Hunting - manufacturing - mining. If then have not completed one then he suggest they stay and do so. I have none of the this dialog. There are currently two destinations the players can select when they choose to travel to Calypso. Port Atlantis and Treasure Island.
Tyvm Zar! I updated the NPC postions in the text. Will now look into updating them on the map. And after that wikify the images you provided. Would also be great to have a list of the Community Advisors. Not sure whether it has been published yet or whether it's not wanted at all. EDIT1: I also added a box in the upper right corner showing the latest threads on the Gateway forum and the beginners forums EDIT2: Updated NPC postions on the map EDIT3: Updated links on the map (yes, you can click objects on the map). EDIT4: Zar's guide added: Planet Calypso Guide EDIT5: Further tweaking of the Gateway page
For the record: 26 Newbies signed up to the Adopt-A-Newbie Foundation since the news about the sale has been spread. If your society hasn't joined the foundation yet this looks about the best time to do so. Otherwise you might want to consider to increase your adoption rate for this month. Adopt a Newbie Foundation
Meanwhile 41 Newbies signed up! I started a guide how to join a society with the ANF as a example: Joining a Society. You are invited to work on it.
