Heh... not "quite", (good job on archiving the plan here btw). Anyhow, if we play along, the next thing on the road map is integrating it with Entropia...

Then 70000 assets will come from somewhere... onto a market where there only exists just shy of £65k of currency to pay for them (plus MA's cloud drop thing). I wonder what these 70000 assets will be.... I'm wondering if they will 3D models or sounds and textures etc from Entropia - assuming MA would want/are allowed to sell them (some were bought in, presumably under licence that might not permit resale).

Anyhow it isn't even worth guessing because this will never happen. I'd be shocked rigid if they even got to the Entropia integration this year, if ever!

You know what... I'm actually starting to feel mildly irked by this. They waste so much time and money on this which could have been spent on testers, artists and developers for Calypso. I'm betting these crypo expert clowns they've partnered with are charging through the nose too. I bet every night they go home and use this to work out what nonsense they will spew the following day.

    Here are some examples:

    completely visualize goal-oriented niche markets
    continually maximize high-payoff sources
    authoritatively enhance leveraged nosql
assertively re-engineer ethical markets - (lol at this one)

In the mean while... that £65k they could have hired one of Crytek's best developers for that - I'm just imagining what they could have done for the game in a year... I'm betting a metric fuck ton of bug fixing not to mention likely converting their entire code base over to a newer version of the engine that would have also openned the door for this VR they keep dreaming on about.

    Anyhow... enough

    Wistrel

    ....

    And another thing....

NEXT FUCKING ISLAND! FUCKING FIX IT, IT WAS GOOD!!

The 70k assets is simply everything making up EU. Generic Leather icon - That's 1 asset. Soloma Opala - 1 Asset. Gremlin Armour Feet (M) - 1 Asset. Attack music - 1 asset. Atrox animation - 1 Asset. Port Atlantis Harbour - Fence model - 1 Asset. Trade Terminal - 1 Asset. Tree model - 1 Asset. AI (lol) path-finding script - 1 asset. Smile animation - 1 asset. etc. etc. It's easy to rake up 70k assets this way. Every unique texture is 1 unique asset.

You're right, a number of assets are licensed, and they won't be able to sell those, unless they get permission from the original owner. However, I am assuming right now that the assets provided by Planet Partners will be tossed in, and that the armour pieces with different colours will be sold as different assets (even though it'd be piss easy to change colours).

I still question whether anyone is waiting for this. When it comes to the Unity Asset Store, anything thrown on there has undergone quality control. Most of the assets will have a set of properties that allow for complete customisation to make your generic asset look and feel unique. Assets are supported by their creators. Unity *makes* a game engine that is used by tens of thousands of people on a daily basis, and thus a logical place for asset creators to sell their stuff. Unity works closely with their customers (those developers) and partners (the asset creators), and is extremely engaged with them.

We all know MA's quality control (or lack thereof), and seeing how many shortcuts MA has always taken, I highly doubt that any assets have been properly configured so they are easily tweaked by interested parties. Support barely exists for the game. I doubt they'd care about supporting their 1 USD assets. Sure, MindArk boasts 3 million accounts, but I seriously doubt there's more than 25.000 MAU (if even that), and nobody in their sane mind would think of turning to a game creator to sell their gaming related assets. MindArk doesn't give a rat's ass about its' customers or its' partners, and adding blockchain to game assets is fucking retarded to being with.

It's basically adding an unnecessary level of complexity to what should be a relatively straight-forward micro-transaction that nobody really benefits from in any way, shape, or form (other than MindArk, *if* they actually manage to deliver anything to begin with, and provided they can find both asset creators to sell their stuff, and people to buy that stuff (don't hold your breath, people!).

While researching something else, I came across this:

    https://www.blockchaingamer.biz/features/interviews/1608/deeptoken-delicate-balance/

First of all, who the fuck thought those pictures were a good idea for marketing? Second of all, who the fuck thought those pictures were good enough for sharing? Thirdly, who the fuck thought those pictures were a good idea at all?

3 million USD? lol. Who the heck would pay more than a few dollars for any of the Entropia Assets? Most of that stuff is outdated (A lot of the plants, textures, weapons, etc. are the same as they were pre-CryEngine, and essentially worthless). I think it might be useful for 3D printing or prototyping of something by an EU fanboi, and that's probably about it. Unlike MindArk, most professional companies would design their own 3D models, and most people probably would figure out pretty fast that MA is selling lemons, and they can get better quality assets elsewhere.

And told ya so. They're working on a copy of the Unity Asset Store, but with added block-chain because block chain is a buzzword, and makes it sound like something hip and cool.

If I wasn't convinced this is yet another case of MindArk grossly over-estimating their own relevancy, and thinking they're the bees' knees, I'd almost be inclined to think there never were any concrete plans for an IPX, and the sole reason for floating that idea to begin with was to launch an ICO and make a quick cash grab. However, having followed MA for years, I'm happy to blame it all on the sheer incompetence and delusions of grandeur of Messrs Timkrans and Simmonds.

  4. “You’ll be able to build an entire game immediately using the IPX,” Simmonds predicts.

    10 years too late...again. :)

  5. Over a billion transactions a month!

    That’s a lot (if true).

  6. "You aquired 7 sweat"
    "Sweating attempt failed"
    =
2 transactions (or 8 in MAs eyes) ;)

While o/t in this thread just a sidenote, I am there right now and for the first time in years there has been an update. A new tp and newbie mission came with the latest VU. Lots still broken but someone is at it.

I dont think adding a TP or a mission means anything, if compared to the above link.

But ya, this way it looks like "someone is still there".
Keeping in mind David Post and BIG "started to do the usual blablah" in oct. 2016...lol...

I am aware of what has been said and what is actually happening. Nothing new under the digital sun, or in the world of advertisement. I'm not euphoric. But some people might still be interested in news, any news about it and missed it like I did for over a week since it has been asleep so long. And that interest was expressed above. So let her and us be, even if we might -- gosh! -- enjoy it. Okay?

I'd go with 1. But actually, I have a feeling you might have hit the nail on the head here. I do wonder if they intend to have every entropia transaction on their blockchain. How long does it take to validate a transaction again? What will this do to loot lag?

It could be the assets are just things in Entropia.... but I don't think virtual items would constitute IP.

Thinking back to NotAdmin's comment, I really can't decide if MA are continuing to have delusions of grandeur or if this is yet another cash grab.

Ahem... statues MA... statues. Show me a legit Wistrel statue and I'll give you 1000 ped for it to be in game somewhere.

  15. And for Simmonds, the bottomline is clear. “We want to make Entropia Universe quicker and better for our players,” he says.

  16. Best gaming-based Cryptocurrencies:

    https://coinsutra.com/gaming-cryptocurrencies/

So, just like Apple, MindArk might not always be the first company to introduce new features. <tee hee>

But maybe with other gaming companies introducing Cryptocurrencies it adds some credibility to them having some utility (other than a cash-grab)?

The difference between those companies and MindArk is that those companies have millions of users. MindArk has 3 million registered accounts, which is the total number of mail addresses they collected over the 15+ years PE/EU has existed. The monthly active users is probably closer to 30.000 (let's be generous, and take into account all the newcomers attracted by the glorious marketing efforts), which probably includes alts.

There's a reason why MA never reveals the number of active users, and that's simply because it'd actually show the world how insignificant EU is on a grand scale, and would not exactly help pull in new partners. They would much rather stick to artificially inflating the number, even accepting that this might mean that as soon as they are caught with their pants down, a sweet deal might fall through, and they have to financially compensate their partner.

The low amount of active users also highlights the exact issue with them declaring themselves as the ideal party to run the IPX. Nobody knows MindArk. Nobody cares about MindArk. If you, as a holder of intellectual property, are interested in selling your wares, would you rather seek out the partner(s) with the biggest customer base, or would you go for some obscure company in Sveedun that nobody ever heard of, because they have blockchain?

If you answered the latter, please go seek help.

  18. For over 10 years until last year, they been claiming to have 1 million account, when the player register was saying 263k...
Then around last year I saw on their official website them saying they had 950 000 (too bad i did not screen it, was just lol for me).

There was a thread immediately when the player register was released, where all the community was clearly not believing it.
    This is another thread.
    http://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/f...ma-say-they-had-over-a-million-accounts-or-so

And now with the cryptojoke, they claim to have 3 millions, sorry, at least for me, that's really hard to believe.
