Lets make a compilation of scamming methods, would be cool if we dont discuss to much in here but just explain how different scams work, so you know how to avoid to get scammed.

Most obvious are the one time trading things, always check the message what you are trading before you click accept!

    1. trade
scammer takes money/items out of the window before clicking accept hoping you dont see it

    1b. floor trading
scammer tells you his trade is too laggy, broken, too many items - whatever it needs to convince you to go outside somewhere and drop items on the ground for trading. you go first.. he never follows but runs with your item/peds

    2. borrow/just look
scammer saying "i just want to look" and in the end click accept hoping you (accidentally) do it too

    3. fap decay check
after using your fap service, scammer will ask to see decay of the fap, pay the decay .. and if lucky get a very cheap fap of you

    4. Help I've been scammed by ...

Yes the reverse scam. Telling ppl you have been scammed to get items because the community feels srry for you. I saw this happen once with a newbie where it turns out that the newbie was lying all the time in order to get some free items.

    5. Trust scam:
    • A person will act like your friend.
    • The person will show you he/she can be trusted.
    • The person will ask you if he/she can borrow some high level items (or low, depending)
    • The person will never deliver it back.

    6. *Stealing* another players identity
    • The scammer will create an avatar that looks very much like another player in game
    • The scammer will use this other identity to take advantage of that other persons rep in game, by borrowing things etc.

    7. The nigerian scam in game (based on my own experience, unfortunately)...
    • The scammer might have something of yours or owe you something.
    • The scammer tells you about some real life problems (or that he/she is a minor) and cries out why he/she can't deposit before getting x amount of money or the first deposit or whatever.
    • You feel sorry and wish to help - he runs with your money.

    8. The 'love'scamming game (this is one of the WORSE I have ever known of)
    • A guy is making a female avatar and hits on all male avatars he get's near of
    • One will bite at a point and he starts this online ingame love-affair
    • It can take months - he has time enough - sending you fake pictures of himself etc.
    • The other guy will fall for it (sorry guys, you're too easy) - and this is what's so horrible - A LOT OF THESE IN LOVE GUYS HANDS OVER THEIR ACCOUNT LOGIN TO SOMEONE THEY BELIEVE IS THEIR ONLINE GIRLFRIEND!!!!
    • The person will log in and rip your account ...
    • This happened to one of my friends! And it's absolutely HORRIBLE!
    • Lesson to learn: Get a gold card and NEVER share your login details with anyone!
    9. TT item in auction
Not a typical scam, but there are users dumping standard TT items in auction with a markup on it, hoping that a newbie who is unaware these items can be bought at cost will be tricked into buying them with a markup.

A legit method is to sell tiered items, which obviously have been used to the extent that they were tiered up. Items with a higher tier are worth more than the TT-version.

    10 . The Random teamer,
The create a team with random loot order or the such, and invite people that are hunting in certain areas to join your team, as new and unaware players hunt % of there loot is going to the team maker as he stands around inviting other players.

    11. The Wormhole,
They make a wormhole and get people to jump in sending them to pvp4 where a few mates are waiting....

    12. Space invite,
Similar to wormhole but gets you up to space then has some friends waiting to shoot them down and loot you.

    13. Last but not least; Shoot a cousin in the knee-scam ...
Doesn't even require any guns or cousins ... only a lot of trust from the community.

Alright, there's a new wiki page to fill: Scamming.

    Let's fill it with:

    - general info about scamming (What's scamming?)

    - some basic hints how to avoid it

    - scamming methods

And some images would be great.

We could also add links to blogs, websites, forum threads where specifc cases have been discussed.

  6. Tass wha* do you mean with images ? and how far are we gonna take the wiki ? do go name names ? What are the rules EP for this ?

    As Tass writes:
GENERAL info - means no specific cases
BASIC hints - means no specific cases
SCAMMING METHODS - no specific cases (like what we listed fx)

And I'm sure Tass didn't mean images with a specific case - but fx a trade window where you can see or were it's pointed out what to be aware off - and without any names etc. in them.

    What Lykke said.

    But:
I think this should be alright (Lykke?).

Meaning if a case is discussed on forums (example: Reveal a scam and offer proof) it should be possible to link to it like "An example for scamming method x has been discussed in this thread".

  9. thatswhat I meant. How far are we going to take it. I agree with lykke to post basic stuff. Besides who decides who is a scammer. A thread of one sidded story is nice but lacks defense and stuff. Basically saying thats more a police job then us

    <<The Wormhole,
<<They make a wormhole and get people to jump in <<sending them to pvp4 where a few mates are <<waiting....

but this only works if you have a toxic shot active :)

    <<Space invite,
<<Similar to wormhole but gets you up to space then <<has some friends waiting to shoot them down and <<loot you

always ALWAYS clear your pockets from all stackables before joining any invite to space, even if its not a scam you can still get shot! (works for wormhole trick too to just empty your pockets)

Looks like there's currently an off-game scam going on, asking people to install a third party tool, it's for example promoted on Youtube:

    Entropia Universe Hack Youtube.png

Remember: There are no free PED, even though there might be sites all build around PED you can get for free or cheap, so other person has to work for your free PED.

Please note: Radio Arkadia is not a scam ;). Go listen to them: http://radioarkadia.com/

And also remember: Karma Police will get you all.
