Goreon May the HOF be with you!

Hardware & Network administrator, got boring as technology progressed... all this plug and play stuff started coming so no more configuration files, testing, etc, just plug it in and off you go :dunno:

Specialist in Sybase databases (there is more than one), but also know MS, Oracle, DB2 and MySQL.

Programmed in C, C++, Java, Embedded VB and C#. Mainly mobile applications.

Currently involved in the Business Intelligance space.

And for some cash on the side websites with HTML, JavaScript and PHP ;).

Last skill is consuming large amounts of alcohol :naughty:

  6. I'm not too old myself, but computers are no strangers to me.
My biggest interest at the moment is automation, and I've created many applications of many types, ranging from Client-Server applications, database-driven applications, to system tools, and much more. My first ever "programming language" was VB, and I then explored Pascal and Java. I only recently discovered the magic of PHP, and how beautifully and efficiently PHP and MySQL synthesize together, and nowdays I'm spending my days creating many PHP scripts and systems. (I've discovered my new soulmate, PHP ).

I've had my share of programming massive server applications (game servers, for instance), reverse engineering and scripting.

I'm interested in anything computer and internet-related. Computers are something I'm quite passionate about. I also have some experience with Linux, and am pretty knowledgeable of Windows.

A strange fetish of mine is the like of old, legacy, nostalgic applications, such as Paradox DB.

I'm willing to take on any challenges and projects anytime, and am motivated to program and contribute as much as I can.

Glad to hear there are more of my kind here,

I did most of my work with the hardware side of things. I started out building PC boards for a company that makes military radios, From there went to a telcom manufacturer where I built and refurbished most of the gear used by British Telecom back in the late 80's

From there I eneed up getting an Associates in Electronics and went to work for Kodak / Heldelberg digital partnership called Nexpress working R&D on the huge digital printing presses.

After layoffs I ended up working for Seimens based out of Texas installing Bio detection equipment in many of the post offices around the USA to help stop bio terrorism from being implementetd thru the postal system like the Anthrax was done.

Since then work related injuries have kept me from working and I basicly goof around with computers.

  10. I am the IT department for 50 users @ a MedTech company.. Been playing around with comps since i was 9 so i know alot about alot but i hate programming. =)

I do everything that has batteries and up ( servers, support, installs etc. etc. etc. ) + changing lightbulbs and making sure the coffe machine is working.

I´m the tech/jack of all trades dude!

  11. I have worked as a C# programmer, and also have some knowledge in SQL.

My expertise is more theoretical statistics/probability but also have experience in practical data analysis. I know my way around statistical and mathematical languages and software (R, Matlab, Sas, Eviews, SPSS, VBA excel...).

I doubt this would help anyone around here (maybe only to disprove bogus mining theories :dunno:).
