Just saw this in a major Dutch paper, and figured I would repost it. Yesterday, apparently a faulty update (Update 5958) was released by MacAffee anti-virus. Computers running it will falsely recognise the Windows process svchost.exe as being infected with a virus, causing it to be moved into quarantined. This will cause a crashing system (BSOD (Blue Screens Of Death) or random reboots).

Instructions on how to handle this problem can be found here.

  2. yeah our government departments here had this on around a 1000 computers yesterday. Needless to say it caused a bit of havoc for some. ;)
