The GREAT TROY RUN (working title)

Hi All,

This is an fledgling idea I have to drive recruitment and raise the profile of the EuTropians.

I read on Entropia Forum that now that Camp Pheonix has no real sweat available for noobs, that Troy is the new trendy hangout for the discerning sweater.

This seems a great idea, as Sweating is essential to the skint noob on the go, and the only way to build up from nothing for those that cannot deposit.
Troy however is a trecherous run at the best of times, and getting there is nigh on impossible for a noob without armour and weapon.

Those that know my in-game habits will know that I often run 'Trains' from Camp Phenoix, through Billys, Pheonix to Zychion. I invite noobs to be 'escorted' through this run, and on the way you can chat to them about mentoring and society invites.

So, this idea is really just an extension of that. EXCEPT MUCH BIGGER!

I would like to make it a proper event and try to attract up to about 100 noobs to run from Port Atlantis, via Billys, Phoenix, Zychion, 3 outposts and finally to Troy.

I would like to make it a competition somehow, so those that make it within a reasonable time are eligible, and then some vote or something to win prizes.

Beyond this I haven't really thought of how it will work so I'm asking you guys for inspiration. Other random thoughts:

* It would be nice to use the proper EU event system to get the 'free' advertising and formal event structure, like timings and tickets.
* I think that tickets should be either free, or cheap (circa 10 pec)
* There should be a noobs only admission rule.
* A nice prize would be a noob starter kit; opalo, gremlin, fap, scanner etc - all good stuff to get going in EU
*Everyone can get invited to the soc in the latter stages along the way, once we know the participants are fairly dedicated
*Everyone should set off together, but there should be assistance along the way i.e. other escorts going back to pick up groups of stragglers at outposts etc.
*The events should be on a Sunday before Christmas, and timing optimised for EU participants (as this is our preferred EuTropians catchment I guess, but should be open to all countries)

I am willing to put up a fund of about 500 PED for this event, I would suggest approx 300 PED in prizes, and 200 for adverts in the Entropia Universe advert system.

Can I ask for ideas please?

The way I was thinking...

These were my thoughts on those points...

First over the line, and lag, mobs etc. are all part of the fun. Also to ensure fun prizes for things like: daftest looking noob, best dressed, worst attempt etc.

I think I would *WANT* to overload the servers just to increase the impact of the event.
Also, I've given up on Troy as being the destination, unless we have way-points and passwords given out (which does work - I've done it before) then the course needs to be straight-line, and not too mob-bound

I propose that there are marathon 'stewards' who will patrol the route helping out stuck noobs etc, and even helping out where it doesn't make things unfair.
this also helps us to get lots of nice photos

Fantastic - as I hope during the event I can get some 'helpers' to be stewards, checkpoints etc.

I ran a treasure hunt event once that was eudoria wide and it worked quite well - some people may remember it?

 

Hopefully it will still happen. We have so much to do at the moment, and we were disappointed at the turnout to the last event so we're trying to make sure the next one is a success.
