So, today after Google's new privacy policy kicked in (basically meaning that whatever you do on any of the sites owned by Google can be used to target you with more personalized ads), in Denmark several Google sites (and some other sites as well) have become unavailable.

At work, Youtube, Gmail and Google.com are affected, as well as FaceBook. Instead of seeing the regular pages, we see a note warning the site was blocked on authority of the Danish police for serving child pornography:

Apparently it is happening on other locations as well, as we were forwarded a mail from a college one of my colleagues attends, stating Anonymous hacked Google over disagreeing with the new privacy policy.

    Anyone else having issues?

As it turns out, the college IT guy was mis-informed. This was actually due to some tool at the police accidentally adding sites to their filters and it then being propagated to all Danish ISPs.

I guess this is one example of why I personally am against handing over stuff like my fingerprints or DNA to the government. Cause people there make mistakes that might somehow end up having unexpected consequences.

Anyway, I'm happy to say service has been restored now :)

    Google is evil.

There are plenty of alternatives to every Google service, just a couple of them:
