Can you get to Ancient Greece if you have not been there before?

Discussion in 'Next Island' started by mastermesh, Mar 28, 2015.

  1. I've been doing a few of the starter missions on Next Island, and was going to try to get to Ancient Greece. However, it appears that some of the mission chain for that is not working these days...

    Copy paste from support case:
According to http://nextisland.entropedia.info/Info.aspx?chart=Mission&name=To_Infinity_and_Beyond the Axonic Diodes mission is the part of the To Infinity and Beyond mission chain that gets you the Benevolence objective. Without being able to complete the to infinity and beyond mission is it possible to go to Ancient Greece? I flew over and got the tp that opens to greece up it won't let me go there, apparently since this mission chain isn't completed?

Seems like some scammers are making a lot of markup from this little fiasco. Also seems pretty screwed up if folks that previously got the mission completed can go to Greece and those of that didn't cannot.

I wouldn't say people exploiting the situation are scammers.... opportunists perhaps? ;) I know it is unfair on new people but there is part of me that kind of likes that there is a place some players can go while others cannot... I've actually always wanted this although I wanted it to be the result of purposed in game design, not an un-maintained planet.

Annoyed with MA's response though... pffft! "when Next Island releases new content". They know that isn't going to happen!

... I agree, but not if the reason for it are bugs in the system like bugged missions.

  4. Did you have time crystals in your inventory?

  5. Yep

Extremely unfortunate, another communication disaster, another showcase of favoritism/discrimination.

When disabling a mission that is required to get to a major destination like Ancient Greece why not putting it the release notes at least? Why not in the Client Loader?? Why not on the official Next Island forum???

In 4 days, it will be 10 years for me, and while I don't participate in the universe anymore, I continue to download new VU's and keep 9 alive, even though she has nothing but her skills and what she's wearing, SO ...

After updating everything a couple of nights ago for the first time in months, I decided to log into the universe to see how things are. I was standing at the Celeste North TP on Arkadia. I have more than what I need with regard to requirements to run EU, but it took a bit for the environment to render, and after I turned and walked to the TP to head to the Quarry, I got the infamous blue screen of death.

I mention all of this, because as much as I love the universe, and as much as I REALLY want to play in it, it continues to be a disappointment. It's a damn shame that with all the good stuff MA is making an effort to implement, that they also don't give more attention to quality checks.

It's been quite a while since anything has been done with Next Island after that PP fiasco, and I wouldn't hold out any hope that anything will be done anytime too soon, which is a shame, because I really liked Next Island too. Maybe they'll surprise us, but I'm on the same page as Tass in that MA should employ better communication with the players, especially when things are known not to be working. I tend to agree with Wistrel too that the people selling non-usable items at auction for Greece are "opportunists" rather than scammers, but aren't both behaviors indicative of "deception" ... just sayin' ... even though that's not a true statement with regard to "opportunists" ... that could be a more positive action at times.

    MA needs to stop it.

  8. well, this weeks cld roi just got dumped in to next island's crafting terminal... May try to go a few weeks and collect enough to get some oil to head to arkadia since that's the last planet I need to go re-collect bps books from to have all bp books again (well almost all, except a few L)....

but may just stay here a while.

Frustrated that I can't go to Greece, but maybe I can yank a few component bps from this crafting machine over time?

A while back I tried to do some monria crafting, but apparently to get the quest over there working that gives the daily crafting mission you have to actually loot the one or two monria bps that exist while on monria, which is a crap shoot as monria is considered a part of calypso, so about 90+% of the time you don't loot the monria prints, just more dupes of the damned calypso bps... here on the other planets you do loot some of the PPs bps, but a lot of times you end up with crappy calypso/universal L bp loots which gets annoying...

Trying to figure out which planet is going to be 'home' down the road. It's a tough decision since all of the planets seem to have more cons than pros lately. Not sure which has is the best of the worst to pick to stay on.

  9. this is very unfortunate for you at this time but once... FUMA!

Er... are the items non usable? If so that is bad (and a problem since I own greece items, although mostly I wear them). Sorry I should clarify, I meant the opportunists were people selling stuff FROM Greece at a higher markup presumably because a lot of the new players cannot go there any more to get the items themselves. The items should still be usable.

If people are selling items that can't be used, that is different.

Incidentally, I heard a rumour that all Greece TT items got L'ified? or were they removed from TT altogether?

Well, I guess at one point the items would be "usable" if the quests could be completed and people could get to Greece, if I'm understanding everything correctly, but perhaps "non-usable" wasn't quite the term to use in this instance. Thanks for clarifying what you posted, it gave better understanding. I can see where the opportunity comes in, and it's a shame that some are capitalizing on it, and not in a good way if people can't get to Greece.

I suppose there will always be those who take advantage of others, and an RCE virtual game seems to be rich in opportunities.

  12. You can go to ancient greece without completing the bugged mission, you will just need 3 time travel crystals. Ensure that you are going to the currently correct TP, Orpheus Cave, from there you should be able to dropdown at the top and select a ancient greece destination. You will even still get the chiton etc.

  13. Not true, while the mission says to craft a monria item, you can in fact craft any item. Same with the mission to find a BP, you can just successfully craft any item and it completes.
The monria crafting and daily crafting missions are actually easier than the mission text implies due to this fact.

  14. then something went wrong when I was there as that did not work for me... mission never completed. I sat there and crafted for a few weeks when I was there, looting quite a few bps (both L and UL) along the way. I am on a bit of a budget timewise and pedwise so don't want to waste the oil and time to travel there just to find out that it's still broken. If you can get several folks who've never been there to complete the missions and record it all on youtube videos that you can provide links to I might try make the effort to try it again, but based on my own observations there it's a waste of time to try it since it isn't working the way you are saying it is.

  15. Nope. Does not work... Yes, I have the time travel crystals in inventory... If I'm at the Erruption Time Travel TP, (or any other tp on the planet, but using Erruption TP since it's supposedly the 'right tp' to use) and I pick Ancient Greece I can pick Orpheus' Cave on the Location List but the teleport to selected destination button is greyed out. My guess is that the To Infinity and Beyond Mission chain has to be completed before that button isn't greyed out any more, and since the axonic diodes part of that mission chain is broke, you cannot go to greece if you have not been there before?

  16. P.S. Really wish someone would put some oil up on the auctions here at next island so I can leave this rock at some point in the near future. (tted a lot of the oil I used to have to buy these useless items related to the mission and for the useless time crystals)... someone could make a hell of a lot of ped just loading up different PP auctions with oil regularly, lol.

  17. You have to go to Orpheus Cave on next island, that is the only TP that will take you to Orpheus Cave in Greece. Any other TP on NI is old info.
