Could we be a planet partner?

I was told by MindArk that they expect the partner must financially commit to running a full dev team and marketing budget, this would be a minimum of approximately 1 mil usd.

 

The largest problem with becoming PPis that we lose our characters and will have to start treating EU as a job, not as a hoby.

I don't think there is a scarcity of different settings that could be used for planets, even leaving out licenceing a setting (something that so far hasn't launched any planets yet, with monsters and michael jackson planets being dead). Apart from waterworld, any of the following might make for interesting planet templates:

• a huge abandoned space station (think death star for scale)
• postapocalyptic planet with ruined hazzard-filled towns dotting the planet
• a jungle planet with what exists of civilization concentrated near major waterways. Good reason to add lots of craftable / lootable boats
• Mayan/Aztec religion and folk belief inspired planet with creatures (natural and supernatural) to match
• A world made out of small floating islands around a star. All mobs have wings, all avatars have jetpacks :D
• A world populated by amphibians and snakes.
• An actual archeology themed world

I'm sure the list can be extended easily.

Would be nice to see how far this subject will go , i like the idea of a forum section for the kind of subject/topic, is it a private section or can any one view it while log in to forum.
Some of the idea's already listed are fantasic.
For my idea for something new would be to have cut cutscene movie's for the missions with emotional feelings to be experienced in real life for the character's/npc's in game.

Anouther idea is a real life hotel or restaurant in connection with the planet and offer foods and products that are actually in game to be used or seen in real life this could also offer a new businesses will require cheffs to make unique types of food's and products.

OK, joke aside, this all sounds nice and fluffy, but what "unique point of selling" such a planet would have?
I think this is the key question, and should be answered first. Then it should be made clear with MA that such a vision would be possible to realize at all. Before anything other.

Would it really make sense to create just another planet that's actually a carbon copy of the existing ones, only with another theme, other landscape, other monsters? Would it be possible to survive with such a plan? Or is the air becoming thin already - can EU, in the way it is managed by MA, win and hold sufficient numbers of players to feed all the current and future planets?

I think no.

What could work would be a quite different system in any way. More real RCE, more then just operating the RNG hoping for the jackpot, but I doubt that MA would be ready to accept such an idea.

I fear this is correct. It would offer a lot more possibilities to create an own game IMHO, and if you'd manage to get it up and running, a better reward.
