Time for a little view back. What's worth mentioning?

For me the biggest surprise was Hunt The THING showcasing a first approach to an slightly alternative style of gameplay in EU.

And I least expected something like this coming for NDS. Gz NDS, bring more!

The biggest thing for sure for me were the Calypso deeds, I did not see them coming. Still not sure what to think of them, but a surprise they were.

  3. Biggest thing was me joining EU this year. :P Got 2 of my friends to play along with me. And gaining new friends in EU and EP has been wonderful.

But yeah I think the land deeds were the most surprising part.

I think HTT and other upcoming missions aren't going to be big to the hardcore "profit" players. But it's definitely a place to have some fun aside from your usual EU dealings. And I hope to see some more of these for sure.

And not to forget: 2011 saw the launch of a whole new planet which seems to do better than the other new planets launched the year before.

  5. I think the biggest suprise and dissapointment for any of us came in June of 2011. Specifically the MA/SEE upheaval and our loss of the FPC development team.

From a player standpoint, I feel that may be Planet Calypso's darkest hour.

With all the stuff happening last year I almost forgot about the development team and you are right. We have bitched to them for years, but I guess they did a pretty good job in the end.

Yep. The loss of FPC/SDS was probably the most dramatic change in the history of Calypso.

They became better and better. More and more things have been given a meaning, embedded in more & more elaborated stories: missions, the harbinger event, etc.

Storywise Calypso has sunken really low. Space opened and all the story we got was: "Space is imminent" , beacon missions have been re-introduced and all the story we got was: "Beacons are back!"

Marco, Andreas, Krister, ... hope you are doing well.

  8. Hi,

IMHO the SEE disaster was the most dramatic occurrence of 2011. I'm quite sure that the land deeds are the result of this incident, obviously MA had planned with the SEE money and when SEE ran away screaming MA had to find a quick replacement.

But there might be more - remember the CEO yo-yo? Too me it seems that quite a lot has happened in 2011, but most of it behind closed doors. Maybe we'll find out about in a few more years, when some NDA's will time out ...

    Other remarkable things:

ND's FAP drop event? Or his other suspicious activities? I cannot help but to have the impression 2011 showcased the self-destruction of a former EU celebrity ...

Space? And the fact that it's lootable PvP now, what caused quite an uproar in significant parts of the community?

2011 had, IMHO, quite some very disturbing news, news that might not benefit the game much in the longer run. But I may be wrong, too few hard facts available, too much interpretation and clairvoyance - hehe, you know me ;-)

Some good news that shouldn't be forgotten:

2011 was the year Arkadia launched, the first planet that seem to be able to live and prosper of itself, and that brought a complete new culture of customer service and communication to the EU. My congratulations, I'm more then impressed!

And we have seen the announcements of some soon-to-come further planets, some of them looking very interesting, and professionally handled. My best wishes, planet-partners-to-be!

And we have seen this forum improving further, getting better and better, and getting more and more users. Congratz & best wishes, Forum Team!

Have a good 2012, and phat loot!

  9. I wonder what Marco and the rest of the FPC team are doing today. A bit sad it ended up the way it did.

Biggest thing for me would be what RAZER said...the deeds...interesting implementation! :)

I also agree with Tass...Hunt The Thing was big surprise! In a positive way! loved it...

...calypso dev team also needs some recognition, just like RAZER said...they do deliver! :)) ...anyways happy new years everyone! :))
