I love all this steampunk art. But at the bottom of my heart I am a purist. I tend to Bauhaus style: simple, functional, easy to manufacture, classy materials. Stylish even ...

Finally it's a task of my ability to deliver good quality to avoid a look of hobby works ... I worked with wood (especially red beech) far in the past and made things like this:


But at this time I had my own workshop with machines. Now I have no machines. And it's hard to make quality products without them.
But I want high quality for our living room. No more IKEA and other cheap products. We turn into the last curve before home straight of our lifes. Time to make it a bit more stylish. Even if it is expensive.

 

Yes, absolutely. If I decide to build my own lowboard I will use such offers. Would expand the fiscal frame for the aluminium parts dramatically. Thank you!

This will be a terrible job! I have no clue if I'll be able to make it. The figur should be at 1:2 scale. Wich is 700 mm high.

 

LOL! Lifesize is too big for our flat unfortunately. I showed the 3D-model and how tall it'll be to my wife.

Let's see. I assume at the bottom of her heart she is at least a little bit proud to own such artworks of her husband ;-) Well, the original artwork was done by an unknown artist who made the drawing and my modeler Igor. But I am the one who make it possible that it will become real.

LOL! I had the plan to build a Revell T3 Bulli long time ago. But ... she loved the real Bulli which you can enter and drive it ;-)

 

Well, I ordered some steel pipes of 9mm diameter for the legs of the chair. I have to make a part for bending them.

 

I started slowly to aply this statue to our living room ;-)

Somehow it looks smaller than expected ...

 

Yep! Ordered a beech lowboard.

No more trouble with building my own one. Puhhh! I can relax and print figures which disturb old Narfi ;-)

 

Hey, there are 4 bends only. And I don't plan to start a chair manufacture ;-)

 

I found an interesting link today to "Character Creator 3":

30-days-trial and 149,00 Euro purchase. As usual all the videos look good and 149 Euro isn't that much. Reason enough to test it.
First experiances:

• I had to make an account at Reallusion Hub. :-(
  
• The installation writes parts of the software to my nearly full drive C: and I couldn't change it. :-(
  
• Installation without further problems. :-)
  
• No support for my 3Dconnexion Space Navigator. :-((
• Export as OBJ is possible (limited to 10 attempts in the trial version). :-)
• CC3 has comparable problems with knees as Poser. :-((
• Biggest issue was the export. :-(((

I exported this model as OBJ and imported it into Rhino:

The last point is materially important for me. If an export of poses isn't possible, there is no need for further tests.

 

2nd try. Export as FBX from CC3 ...

... and import into Rhino:

Crazy: Her pants, shirt and hair are there. But it seems the texture doesn't work. I've never ever seen such an effect in Rhino.

 

Hmm, import doesn't work as well for me. I bought a pair of high heels for my current project at Turbosquid and sent it to Igor:

He could use them in Zbrush. But in CC3 the only way to import is to generate an FBX and import it. And it doesn't work because Rhino doesn't generate a "Decrypt Key File" *roll eyes*

It seems, this was a very short test ;-)
Finally I tested Autodesk FBX converter:

Okay, enough. I will uninstall this software.
