wikis are always usfull, another wont hurt.

im not sure if you intend to compete with the entropedia wiki, but i've long thought there needs to be a backup as its a bit unreliable. the guy who wrote the code is not around anymore, i get the impression the underlying code has a couple of significant bugs and while the guy (witte? tussi?) who maintains it does a great job i also gather his not a experienced ASP coder.

 

This sounds naughty ... but despide VF knowing how to get it up ... we know absolutely nothing about how to fill in the information. So here it would be great if a couple of people either could 1) teach us or 2) help us run it or both ... ;)

We tried it for another forum and I tried to put in sites but it seems a little complicated to read up on if you know nothing about the tool. I'm sure when you first get the idea it's easy and piece of cake etc. - but untill then :)

We could get it up running quite fast, since we already have the tool for you :)

 

getting basic info into a basic wiki is a doddle. if you start wanting a bit of style and formating like Entropedia Directory to it, i think that requires some style sheet knowledge. getting the sort of sorting and maths based anaylsis what is available in Entropedia requires some fairly hard programming (unless theres a package out there).

so really, the first thing is to decide how you want the wiki to take shape. design a layout from the start, by which i mean catagories and structure rather than graphical.

 

Yes, I understand - and that is nearly set up - but only on paper (meh) since I never suceeded making sections in the wiki ... Maybe you need some programming, dunno - I know a little about style sheets. I just never got how this works out, maybe if I had a clue I could get started. I have been searching the wiki-tool help sites, but it really requires you know al ot about it already ... which is not that big of a help, I guess ;) Also my english is hardly good enough for the coding language but I try

It would definate be a great thing if it got of the ground.

PM witte about it, and see if he wants to give a hand. I know he has trouble with entropedia as he doesnt have some of the code or whatever which makes it hard to update.change.

Offer him a fresh start or something? he might like to do it..
