Nothing to worry about there. I could have raised a number of points like this post by infamous mischievous herself:

Asks more than one question but goes unpunished, sigh but no point really I know you'll come up with some clever reply :) and mischievous softhart will be laughing...

So I went back to what i'm actually intrested in which is t:w.

Well what I really wanted to ask was how big the world is going to be. How many continents and about space too. So I have to phrase the question in such a way as to get the most information by asking only one question. By knowing servers I would know how big the world is although i wouldn't know number of continents that can be roughly guessed from your reply. Also I would know about space around t:w. Possibly about moons etc as well depending on how far you go with your reply.

It didn't occur to me about platform requirements and specs and something that you may not be allowed to talk about.

I was rather thinking of battle cruiser class vessels of an alien faction threatening Theryon from time to time. Due to their superior stealth, shields, and weapons technology the only way to fight them is by infiltrating them with special ops teams and causing enough damage inside to force them to withdraw or even destroy them.

Regarding the Theryon 'family of games', when can we expect to meet which member of the family?

  3. I didn't expect an answer, just testing the waters :)

I didn't ask more then one question, that time. I was saying that Ordaz could answer your alien question but that you still needed a spanking. :) If it makes you feel better I will get a spanking too! :)

ok, that made my day :devilish::yay:

Will there be normal mob hunting on the planet itself?

Wow this turned into a interesting show!! :sneaky:

This question is to be taken with a grain of salt.

What I would like to know is what kind of experience the team has with the new Cry2 engine and if it is very different to the mod engine that MA uses..

  6. Danoclese

Danoclese I sense a "Disturbance" in the Force

At this point, I'd like to take this opportunity to "correct" what may become a "bad" habit on your part. Myself and the Society I belong to in game (The Disturbed Ones aka TDO) have spent the last six years trying to educate everyone as to the correct spelling of the word "Beer". Please note the spelling. "Beer" must always be spelled with a capital "B". If you would adopt this rule as the norm, everything will go well for Planet: Theryon Wars. You will find that such Entropian luminaries as MS9 and others have adopted this practice with no ill effects on their parts. Even MA have gone to some lengths to comply (I'll post the screenie later...can't find it now ;) ) Otherwise, I may be forced to nag you at each and every infraction you may commit.

    hehheh

Sorry to join the off-topic comment, but ... my dear friend Danoclese speaks the truth. People have suffered untold and very mysterious goings on when not employing the proper spelling of Beer. You just don't want to mess with the TDO crew - I even have my very own personal Stalker from that group, but he hasn't been around lately. :frown:

Bottom-line ... TDO is an awesome group and have earned major respect from the community in their 6 year existence. Just stay away from their Beer bunker and you'll do fine.

As an on-topic comment ... thank you very much for taking the time to once again interact with the community as much as you have, and to take on their questions. It's an amazing and very welcome level of communication for sure.

  8. About space, atm I can only point out there will be three different "zones": The neutral base, acting as a trade outpost and entry point for "the general public", and one station for each other faction. These two are intended for in-Faction use exclusively: if you want to go to one of them, sign up for the appropriate faction and start completing missions for them.

On the planet itself. We have generated land masses and underwater reliefs using fractals, procedural tools and geo-sim processes; then we've had to clean them up. Now most of the initial land masses fit nicely in an area-based grid, some still need some tweaking. Once tweaked, they undergo "design retouching" and after that "artistic makeup". So the overall shapes and coastlines for, say, half the planet surface have been plotted and the first areas to be implemented have a solid 1.0 starting point

Story-wise, the truce forbids uncontrolled expansion, so access to new areas will be restricted even if you can see their features in the map. I shall check how much of this I can unveil without spoiling...

  9. Infiltration and sabetage will be needed not only because of "superiority", but because of the truce: open aggression without the proper surface facilities and "rooting" could lead to a disaster. But yes, this is the kind of missions where we can have pure PvP, pure PvE and mixed PvP+PvE. Also, instead of having one single mission, we could have 3 (just as an example): Destroy the ship's shield generator, its engine room and its nav control. One player/team can select only one, so destroying the ship can't be achieved by just one team... This was to remove, if possible, the "fake" feeling I told you before.

Now, about your question... The first one is in the oven right now; the countdown to release the arcade game is measured in weeks, not months. For the next two we have yet to prioritize, there are other corporate developments for which we'll have to allocate resources, so we'll focus on one at a time beginning next summer. Can't be sharper, sorry.
2012 is going to be quite an intense year for us, in all fronts.

  10. This is starting to sound like an adult movie... Could we please chill out and get back to biz? :cautious:

  11. First part, same as above.

Actual question: Absolutely yes. Of course, your definition of "normal" may differ from ours :tongue (2):

  12. Lots of original Crytek-crafted documentation also apply to Entropia's tools... Geez, you know I can't tell much.

Not all of us in the team were exposed to Cry Engine before T:W but all who are involved with it at the moment have worked with more than one game engine, each. Not to show off, but to let you know a little of the expertise of the team currently working on T:W, several of the engines we've already worked with (combined & previous experience) are:
    • Hero Engine (obviously)
    • BigWorld
    • Esenthel
    • C4
    • Source
    • ShiVa
    • Multiverse
    • Torque (the whole family)
    • Ryzom & NeL
    • Trinigy's Vision Engine
    • Unreal & UDK
... among others and apart from Cry. Recently Cry 3 included a new licensing model, so we approached them to explore the possibility of developing other Theryon games with Cry 3; I guess they'll come back to us once they fully understand our situation, so as time goes by we're exploring other options within non-Cry engines we already know well.

Ty for the reply. Yeah I kinda knew it would be hard to give a full explanation. I am impressed by what your team has worked with! :geek: There are more parts to this question like.... wait, not my turn yet... I'll be back!! :whistling:

  14. I'm not sure if you're aware of this but...

Most English-speakers coming over to Spain forget about that word (and many others) as soon as they start saying "CERVEZA".

I guess they'd write it all caps, bold+italic, but it's just a guess.

  15. So good you're 'round! Miss-yaaa...

Having you telling me about levels of communication is like... applying acceleration to mass... media
I guess you can do it and we-the-rest can try with varying degrees of success

We should check our inboxes more often... and feed them once in a while :rolleyes (2):

  16. Q: What other opportunities will we have to communicate either you or other members of the T:W crew after Dec 7th?

Don't say we have to go cold turkey until T:W release lol

  17. Shadowsong

    Shadowsong Collateral Damage

Pfft, to suggest TDO could forget the word "Beer" - sheer blasphemy! ;)

  18. What an interesting idiom, "cold turkey"... Oh, well, nope. After Dec 7th I'll keep dropping by here, at least a couple of days each week. On January SB's blogs should be ready to receive content; I'll see if I can trick some mates to write there or I'll have to ask them every once in a while to keep you briefed.

We'll also come up with other means: interviews, Q&A threads, "ask the devs"...

How intresting will the non pvp areas on the planet be?

  20. Cool, that sounds good
