Okay, so you guys have obviously been looking at how to integrate, and the quests format seems like a manageable approach. Thanks for the reply.

I was also thinking of it being extended deeper into the planetary economy. On Calypso we have a mass of essentially useless entry-level components, crafted mostly purely for the skills. If those were somehow incorporated as requirements for reconstruction of destroyed buildings/vehicles/etc, then there is a demand for those components. Feed that into the quest requirements recipe, and I think it will build a "real" virtual economy.

  2. Do you honestly think if I broke in that would have been the only thing I did was add another question to your post??? :)

I vote for Option 5 also, followed by a spanking! But the spanking is coming from Ordaz, not me

  3. Given what information is available, Theryon wars will not be a typical land based planet partner. With that in mind, are there going to be unique to Theryon or new to all of EU in game event systems that will allow players to create events (outside of utilizing individual ingenuity) within the "space" of Theryon wars?

If that's too much of a MA development question for ya, then can you possibly explain what type of in game event systems you may be considering to push for the overall development on in Theryon Wars?

  4. Q: As a planet partner how much flexibly or functionality do you have with NPC's?

I would personally first and foremost want to see the npc's actually talk to you with pre-recorded audio. To me reading walls of text seriously diminishes the experience and I will often skip reading the text simply because I'm to tired to read it.

Also does a planet partner have the ability to script the movement of the npc?
Not sure if that counts as two questions lol. But if it does please feel free to skip the second one.

  5. Puck

    Puck Puck

Will Spaniard Blend / Pyxal be limited by the dev tools provided from Mindark, or will SB be able to to fully utilize its modeling and AI strengths? Possibly even working with MA to enhance current methods?

I'm hoping to see more intelligent mobs, more efficiently designed models, and improved movement fluidity.

  6. GeorgeSkywalker

    GeorgeSkywalker Explorer

Is alien race extinct, moved out from planet system or still present ?

  7. Nor Alien

    Nor Alien Wisker Fish

Aliens don't go extinct... we multiply and divide!! :sneaky:

As for the topic of questions....

What kinds of additions to the current systems are you able to change or add?

  8. Let's think twice about this.
I've re-read it, 5 times in total, not to misunderstand it (I think I haven't).

Shadowsong, I think you're not telling me we should include items built with other planets' BPs (blueprints, just in case) and other planets' mined resources in systems of our planet which can determine the availability of quests and resources. Nor including the same resources and BPs "as is" in our planet to give the resulting objects the same use, as outer influece could make these systems too unpredictable and hard to balance.

On the other hand, crafting "Maintenance Food" somehow similar to "TT Food" has been considered... with local resources and original recipes (not just the BPs, but the mechanics).

  9. Softhart, if you like I shall not ask George's last question about aliens, even if made by anyone else.
    Iniustitia inimica virtutem est...

  10. I believeSpace needs more population and "development" (like in "emerging countries") before Promoters and players can take full advantage of it event-wise. You could respond to this that if there were more activities in space, we'd help players venturing there and I'd agree. Hence, I'd like you all try Theryon's space-based quests/missions so:
1.- Promoters can take them as references for events.
2.- Players can speak their minds and we can improve them if needed.
3.- We can have actual data and statistics of participation, activity, rewards, impact...

We'd also like to keep an eye on current and ongoing space activities, to see what space-faring players like and don't and (IC) to be warned if they come close to any of our cloaked scouts gathering information of your particular pocket of space...

  11. I'd count two questions here and I could run into [CONFIDENTIAL] issues trying to answer them "as is". On the other hand, about NPC interaction and believable characterization...

Text walls are not our friends, true for players and developers. There are games that offer 500+ words of NPC chatter with 2 to 5 player "interactions" which usually are:
    - Tell me more / See you later
    - Yes / No
    - Could you repeat that? / I'm ready to continue
And so on. And these "500+ blocks" repeat over and over, game after game, session after session, because this is how things work. And, dear Misao, there are players perfectly happy with this, simply because it works for them. Perhaps they grew used to it, perhaps they knew nothing different from it, perhaps it's just it tastes good for them.
That doesn't make such a player "better" or "worse" than another one who'd prefer different NPC interactions... such as Misao or myself :tongueout:
Systems different to this "500+ blocks" do exist and provide additional advantages for storytelling. Not promising we'll include this as is: One of our dialogue references is the game "Alpha Protocol" by Obsidian/SEGA, you can check what I mean HERE. We won't be fooling 'round with the camera during dialogues, but the mechanics and different outcomes is what we're aiming for. So, your interaction with a given NPC doesn't need to be the same as mine was or will be, and the same goes for outcomes and consequences.

Developing players in "oog means" is another interesting alternative we've considered. Nevertheless, this must go for secondary storylines or story layers (Straczynski-wise, Whedonesque...) and not for the main lines: We can't rely on out-of-game stuff and info reaching our players, in-game info is what we can trust players will have a chance to find and figure out. Regarding this, if enough people ask for a specific thread to discuss these arc we shall start it on wednesday, ok?

Voice acting could possibly come in a not-so-near future. It would need subtitles, anyway, for not all of us are native English speakers. Then, the rest of the mates could ask for voices in their languages, and we're not talking about "robot voices": we all want voice acting. So, even less than the whole lot, we'd love to have this and I'd pray to get it (I'm not a religious man). Being realistic, I don't see this happening at launch date and not really sure of what could be done during the first year of operation.

All of the above goes for T:W, exclusively.

  12. Sure that is ok, but can you answer it :) I still think he needs a spanking from you! :)

My question: What is you name in game? :)

  13. Let's imagine I give two individuals pen and paper as "working tools". Same brands, same quality and amounts.
Let's say these guys are called Joe Average and Will Eisner.
Are Joe's tools more "limiting" because of Will's results? I hope you get me...

We want a planet in Entropia Universe, hence we must use Entropia Platform's tools, means and processes. Period.
On the other hand, current tools and 3D engine capabilities give us plenty of room to create new experiences inside EU. Although Anmynor's engine is pretty different from Cry, you can check the quality level we've achieved in that platform and compare it with what others have. I'm proud of the results my team has achieved with Anmynor and we all know Cry is quite a different beast with so much horsepower under the hood... horsepower we're willing to ride.
I answered about screenies previously... /sigh

Regarding our AI projects and other developments, tech considerations involving the Entropia Platform or third parties, if any, would have the appropriate NDAs in place, as you'd understand.
It's not like I can drop by and say "we're doing this" or "we're not doing that" :tongueout:

  14. Ok, I need a multi-reply here...

Without us noticing, GeorgeSkywalker made two consecutive questions, which I happened to ask (hey, you can check). My penalty, for those who didn't notice is staying around, answering your questions even on saturday night (2:09 at the moment of editing), not playing and not sleeping until I got you all answered...

George, on the other hand, will be spanked the moment we meet in... low Theryon orbit...

So this time Softhart comes in first to restore what little balance was to be restored...

I never tell, not just in EU but in ANY game. Same goes for Steam profile name or console IDs. We all need that bit of privacy, right?

About George's question, I meant "answer" but wrote "ask"; I do sometimes make mistakes, you know... :tongueout:

I guess you're referring to this:

The base and the settlement are there. "Alien looking" goes for their ships, base, buildings... No human from your region of space has met them face to face... yet.
Anyway, I shall quote Sergeant At Arms Rhein (121th. Lancers Reg.):

(Alcohol, weird accents and poor translations can be bad for one's health...)

I guess you'll remember this, some sooner, some later... Aliens in T:W don't exercise active population growth control. At least their own population(s). So you could say they do multiply and then divide... their preys into pieces. But, well, you'll drop by this planet and say "there are no aliens" and you'd be right. So right some of you will end up saying you liked it best when there were no aliens here. Oh, I said too much again about something you'll have to find out yourselves...

Well, your actual question just crashed a [CONFIDENTIAL] sign so I hope one goes for the other...

EDIT: No more questions @ 2:22 AM... See you tomorrow!

  15. Thanks again for the response Ordaz ^^

hehe well I'm glad we're sort of on the same page at least regarding this topic :)
And for those that are used to heavy reading, I agree nothing wrong with that.

The voice acting would need subtitles for sure. I hoping now that Mindark has gotten the core mechanics of the game down in the past two years, that we'll start seeing the mechanics of the game to improve.

Ordaz, you have understood correctly, it's not to suggest using external planet items or resources, but to style your BP's to be more integrated into your economy. The Calypso BP's are only an example of how it has not been done, in my opinion.

  17. GeorgeSkywalker

    GeorgeSkywalker Explorer

How many servers will there be for t:w (for map areas, space etc)?

  18. Welcome again, Misao (^_-)
An in-game browser counting as OOG means sounds a bit... funny. Ok, the contents would we webpages or pictures located OOG, but anyway... funny. To be honest, by "OOG methods" I was considering "things players can do without having to be logged in EU". A weekly web-tv-show is top of that list.

  19. Well, then we both can take it easy and smile: we haven't yet devised a crafted item only for skill development and TT feeding.

  20. Doesn't this fall into "discussing Entropia Platform's requirements and specifications"? Just making sure.

Also, your latest questions are being shorter and shorter. Does this have anything to do with the previous "low-orbit spanking"...? I thought and hoped it'd be entertaining enough for us all, I do apologize if I did wrong .
