Not exactly a "game deal" as such... but, Doom 3... running in a web browser O_O*

    https://wasm.continuation-labs.com/d3demo/

I've never played it before but had a few mins on the intro just now and was quite liking it. Had a sort of half life vibe mixed with the familiarity of Doom (1) and that feeling of turning up at a space station.

On Web Assembly, I'd kinda assumed it was a sort of assembly language for web browsers. Like a low level alternative to java script. What I hadn't appreciated is that it actually gets thrown around as binary (but can be flipped to assembly code same as any other binary executable) and seems other things can be converted to it, in this case, Doom 3 which I assume originally ran on x64 CPU and on the windows OS. Not sure if they've converted from that or if they have the Doom 3 source code to work with. Wouldn't surprise me if they did. I don't know if this was made by iD or not but I know iD have released their source code before for old games so wouldn't surprise me.

  8. couple of games over at epic - game of thrones board game and an auto mechanic game.

Regarding online games, check out vimm's lair. Most of the retro stuff there is now free to play in browser... or at least some are.

is this on one website? if so do you have web address? wouldn't mind playing some retro games in a browser like r-type :)

As much as I am a fan of the old games, I really dislike the archive.org interface. I somehow cannot get used to playing stuff in my browser, and more often than not, half the ports don't even work properly.

I usually stick to my DOSBOX archive, GOG, or Steam. Or this other amazing website that's very much a work in progress :D

I grabbed Doom 64 off epic for free the other day. Not sure if still there but certainly fun. I enjoyed the puzzle element and having monsters go splat with a single punch if you find bezerk item.

No that's actually a nice point-and-click adventure, played the demo.

I tried converting some old DOS software myself recently to work with this web version of DOS box. I found some keys didn't work due to some sort of keyboard mapping/configuration issue. So might be one to keep in mind... I wonder how well tested these things are. Not saying everyone would screw up like I did. Just saying it is possible.

Shadow of the Tombraider and something called Submerged Hidden Depths are free on epic at the moment. The latter sounds like my gaff. "Relaxploration" lol.

    Submerged Hidden Depths

Relax and Explore! A drowned city, crumbling tips of skyscrapers stubbornly standing above the waves. Deserted villages, now inhabited by enigmatic creatures. And beneath the surging ocean waits an anguished, angry presence. Submerged: Hidden Depths is a non-combat third-person “relaxploration” adventure, set in the sunken ruins of a beautiful world. Take on the role of Miku and Taku – one cursed with a mysterious power that she wants to use for good, the other determined not to let it tear them apart.
