Entropia VU News: Entropia Universe 17.11.1 Release Notes

Discussion in 'Entropia News' started by EP-Newsbot, Nov 16, 2021.

  1. Fixes

    • Fixed an issue causing a client crash when entering and exiting a mothership seat in a rapid succession.
    • Fixed an issue causing the Kismet Laser attachment not to function properly in some cases.
    • Fixed an issue causing the “Loot in Chat” option to incorrectly reset upon login.
    • Starship crew will now need gunner seat access to operate gun turrets from the pilot seat.

MindArk and the Planet Partners strive to ensure a smooth and problem-free Version Update. Nevertheless, even after extensive testing some issues may arise after release. Such issues are often addressed via mini-patches directly after a release and in subsequent patches. If you feel that the possibility of encountering minor issues or bugs directly after a Version Update affects your gameplay to an extent that Entropia Universe is not enjoyable, please wait until the mini-patches have been released and any last minute issues have been resolved.

  2. Maybe I've misunderstood, but assuming starship crews now need gunner seat access 'so as to use gunner seats', how can they also operate gun turrets from the pilot seat when crew members can't be in both seats at the same time?:rolleyes (2):

I should head back to space some time and see what state it's in. Largely to go to some of the places I've not been, see the atmosphere around Calypso actually line up with the planet (I hear it does now) and check if my joystick setup still works.

I have walk aroundable spaceship I have access to as well... not sure it has any fuel though :D almost certainly doesn't have any guns... unless they come as standard. Not that I'd ever fancy firing the 1ped gun or whatever it costs.

Of course... finding where I parked it might be the trickiest thing... or at least... finding it without falling prey to the Pirates that is...

  5. You have a spaceship?

Walk-aroundable...? So not just a (L) two-seater? That would be several thousand real dollars catching dust. Say about the game what you will but people still pay crazy amounts for these pixels.

In other news, just in... should be picked up by the bot shortly here, too:

Good question. I've not seen an announcement about it or anything from Deathifier himself. However, as usual there is only speculation from players as far as I'm aware.

    It isn't mine...

hehe... to explain, my soc has one, or to be even more precise, because MA never implemented any notion of soc ownership... or indeed anything useful for socs aside from a shared chat and blue dots on the scope (man... writing that... it sounds so... lame... wow), a member of my soc has one, and has entrusted me with access to pilot it.

Truth be told though... I think I've only been in it once or twice... and it's been many years now... and probably I was the last person to step foot in it too. I hope it doesn't have ghosts!

For @INTERNUT 's benefit I should probably explain a little bit of the history of space in Entropia (and because my rocking chair, harmonica and porch is calling ,-) ).

Historically space was a sort of... "cinematic teleport" for want of a better description. Players could purchase a Calypso based spaceship hangar (which contained a spaceship) which came incomplete. They could then acquire components in order to complete the hangar, at which point, they could then use the spaceship to take IIRC 3 people to space. Players would walk into the hangar and again... IIRC walk into the spaceship and click on a seat. IIRC there were 2 seats up front, one for the pilot and one for a passenger... I think there was also a gunner seat and a "seat on a bunk"? There was another bunk further back but don't think that could be used. The pilot would then "fly" the spaceship to the only other location, which was Crystal Palace space station, then later, Club Never Die.

I say "fly" because, and this is where the "cinematic teleport" came in, it was just a teleport. You'd momentarily appear at the space station (or CND). I can't actually remember what happened with the spaceship at the other end... Can someone help? Did it stay in a place at the space station for you to re-board? I bet @McCormick would remember. I have a feeling there was a "pay for" teleporter that people could use to get back (at least at CP?) but can't remember if "flying" back was also an option. As for the cinematic bit.. if you were actually on board the ship, I think you just saw a fade out and a momentary "you are in space" message in the middle of the screen? If you were on planet watching though it was actually quite cool. The top of the hangar would open and the space ship would fly out leaving a cloud of smoke behind. Similarly there was a landing animation too... or at least, I think there was.... It's been a long time...

Anyhow, that's enough of the background. When space was "implemented proper" MA redesigned the hangars and made them entirely static. There was once a promo video released on youtube I think for something else that showed the hangar roof (normally stuck open) actually opening up which looked pretty cool (I think it comedically got stuck half way - deliberately - too which was a nice touch) but, alas, the function never appeared in game. As for the spaceships, as well as the re-designed hangar, MA also gave a Pioneer? Pathfinder? spaceship to each hangar owner, that was "walk aroundable" on and could carry mulitple people around. This spaceship was space bound though and could never land in the Hangars... I don't actually know if it would fit? The spaceships were nice enough and had a place for a pilot and gunner I think as well as stuff like bunk beds etc. I rather liked ours when I went to visit. Sorta like a mothership but smaller and homelier.

Anyhow, in terms of travel, the ships were much like the other 2 man seated ships that most players can pick up cheeply. i.e. they could be manually flown from planet to planet with the slight difference that the 2 man ships could go the whole way, i.e. up to and down from orbit. The main difference was that you could fit a warp drive to the walk around able spaceship or a gun or other upgrades etc. It's worth noting too that the hangar owners were given an unlimited space booster too that they could fit to a 2 man seated spaceship that was capable of going to and from the planet's surface.

To finish up, of course these days there are many locations in space you fly to, either manually or quickly via a warp jump and there are even space mobs for those who care to fire 1 ped a shot guns. You can even have PVP fights and loot each other but as I understand it, this feature is poorly implemented and prone to exploit abuse. Something about a speed hack... don't really know.

Anyhow to come back to the question, do I have a spaceship, yes, I have a 2 man seated ship that has a limited space booster and is not warp capable... I think I put a gun on it too... but mainly just for the fun of shooting at nothing. Pretty sure I've never won in a skimish with space pirates. As for the walk aroundable ship, as I said, I only have access to pilot one. I don't know if I even have permission to be able to invite others or the ability to upgrade or refuel it. Chances are these are activities that are reserved only for the hangar owner and they don't play much these days.

Hope that was a fun... it grows late and the sun is setting... I must come in from the porch and rocking chair...

  10. Thanks for explaining the history of spaceflight in EU! Is your two person spaceship a quad wing or something else? Just wondering...

Quad. I call it Kite. (after the .hack character and kinda joke on the name in that Kites fly and so does the quad). I have a VTOL too but don't have a space booster on it. VTOLs in space don't really seem right to me. I never really thought MA should have made them space worthy any more than the helicopters were.

  12. So it's a quad wing, nice. By VTOLs, you mean like sleipnirs? Can they go in space as well? I know my kraka (L) can't. I can't attach a thruster to it as I found out.

oh no! I hope that wasn't on my info. Yeh ah... I forget what all the vehicles are called and I didn't even ever see that Kraka one before (guessing newish addition?). I mean this thing can go to space.

  14. Yep that's a sleipnir, seen quite a few of those. No idea which VU the kraka (L) is from, but it was one of the cheapest for reasonable condition and I knew it would make finding TPs quicker.

The joy of TP's is that I've never bothered to collect them all, so every so often I'll accidentally discover one. Which is nice.
