January’s content release includes five tutorial missions — for six introductory characters if you count November’s Miranda — in Crystal Center. These island residents will help new arrivals learn to hunt, mine and craft, to uncover details on friend and foe with a scanner, to create a new style with the Elysian Colorator and Bleaching Attachment, and to learn about the game interface. New players to Next Island will now spawn in the middle of Crystal Center, for an easier, more social starting play experience. From a story perspective, the Elysians hold Crystal Center as a location for commerce and recreation, protected from the many dangers in the island jungle.
