Wait!!!First Screen shot from Arkadiaforum?
Hmm I just tried this with IE 10.. no luck..
It is in the Arkadia Dark style (you can choose it on the very bottom left of the page)
What I do wonder about is why Arkadia is showing the Quad and some asteroid on their forum page.
Not sure if that is a new avatar.
That isn't just some asteroid, that is the Howling Mine space station, and what I consider to be the coolest looking and feeling place in the universe right now. Too bad there isn't any practical reason to be there other than to see how cool it looks.
(but yeah, nothing to do with Arkadia really other than it is a cool looking place in the game)
Hmm I have mine set to the dark style, and I see the same picture you posted.. The picture you have isn't the one that wistrel showed.. Or am I missing something.. which is entirely possible.!!
it is, Wistrel has it just a little closer up, it is the background image
yeh it could be concept art or a high poly version of the original armour design.
still find it weird there isn't even a preview yet. Makes me suspicious MA are planning on dropping a "entropia is dynamic" clanger. For example, as part of the ava update totally redoing how clothes and armour can be made/customised. For example it would be a real step forward to allow custom designs maybe a bit like the face masks. This would obviously deal a blow to the existing economy for these items but be a good step forward for the game and the future crafting economy/profession.
Just a thought
PS whatever happens I expect the ava update to at least provide MA with a way to do pets and let us sit/lie down again, even if it isn't straight away. Hopefully will allow some richer animation and custom avatar movements too. I know ND at least wanted some sort of dancing thing set up.
Ant one played APB:R well some nice avatars in that game all custom even tatoos.
Surely that 'avatar' is great artwork somehow superimposed onto the scene, but if it's a genuine hint of how AV's might actually look in near future, then...
BTW, where is the Howling Mine space station located? Not seen it yet but would like to at some point.
its in the server just east of the rocktropia station, and north of the NI station.
not played apb but I saw vids of the nice ava creation. they have nice stuff in eve too but I don't think they have the same open world situation we have. ie they probably only ever have a few avas in scene at any one time. The reason I think we can't have mega detailed avas yet in an MMO situation is that the system has to cope with rendering lots of them at once.
need to go to the howling space mine some time.... I wonder... when MA make these things what do they THINK they will be used for? clearly they don't but I always assume there is a reason initially planned at least.
Well then hope i can make the chick of my dreams in VR.
well im less thrilled with upcoming ava update, hell I decline every time I login to redo my ava (from last time around). Granted it might have a small influence on getting more newcomers, but might work better if (see below)
Posted a suggestion a while ago on PCF about doing a online campaign together with any of the americas next designer (or any of those competitions, they all seem popular and have many spinoffs) if they get customized ingame items, for instance top designer gets their garment/item ingame (could basically be whatever, furniture, make up). Naturally losers (and players) can pay to get their customized items ingame. Sure it move EU towards SL, but EU is in dire need of end item users (peps who don't craft/mine/hunt) just buy and socialize (make it cool to have an EU avatar).
I know what you mean. I think the thing is that cool stuff needs to be cool and exclusive but also affordable. ie its good that rarer exclusive items cost more but it should still be realistic. We don't want new players running round in oranges cause clothes cost too much. At the same time we don't want the really cool clothes to be too cheap.
What bugs me is crap clothes that cost a lot simply cause of the items needed to make them being expensive. Clothes should be expensive cause they are cool not cause of a recipe that is independent of appearance. Ok I know "cool" is a personal thing but there are certain things people agree on generally.
Ultimately its a bit of a restriction on freedom of expression/design that black costs so much.... but I don't know what the solution is. The only one I can think of is a slow over time change to a more flexible design/manufacture system. I don't even know what that would be though.
An interesting change from the past was vu9. They changed the appearance of everything then and some things got more expensive, others fell out of use/popularity. The reason for this was cause of the massive change in appearance of certain items. An item that didn't look cool before but suddenly did post vu9 went up, the ones that got worse went down.
one thing I'm sure of - the thousands of PED I used to customize Xandra are down the drain. Who'd ever buy most expensive old style stuff like Bono shades, Rancher hats, Master coats (Heh, I sold in time!) etc. if you now get them for doing an easy newbie quest, or quite cheaply?
MU of old style clothing stuff is at the lowest level already. Any advanced nOOb has sophisticated clothing now, no difference to my still 5K+ clothing anymore.
It doesn't really break my heart, but it's another stone in the wall.
