  1. Team loots $7,100 in real money on Planet Calypso
There’s still time to join the hunt as the Eomon Migration Event continues.

Gothenburg, Sweden – July 14, 2014 /Planet Calypso/ – Planet Calypso AB, operator of the longest established planet in the largest Massively Multiplayer Online Real Cash Economy (MMORCE), announced today that a small team of hunters has just earned over $7,100 as they participated in annual Eomon Migration Event.

Known for its annual migration pattern and special loot, the Eomon migration has been a popular seasonal hunting event for many years on Calypso. In the wake of the mighty Eomon herd, predator creatures such as Atrox and Mul mutants also follow, making the migration of these imposing beasts a must-see for all colonists. While it takes skill and planning to take down any creature in the game, the loot system on Planet Calypso incorporates many factors including the toughness of the prey, avatar skills, equipment, and several incidental elements. Large loots such as this one do not affect other players' chances, and thus are always possible within the Entropia Universe system. All team efforts are shared with those showing the most skill, whether its doing the most damage or healing their teammates, getting a higher percentage of the profits. For more information please see the event webpage at http://www.planetcalypso.com/events/eomon-migration/.

  8. So if by a struck of luck in the universe when all planets align and all players are on the right place at the right moment they can all loot such a big HoF?
That would mean their could be one day that all odds turn out to be in the advantage of the players, and thus MA and Planet Partners could actually loose money trough the system.

    Yeah right.... Keep dreaming!

  9. Watching the video and not wanting to steal any excitement or thunder away from Taco & crew.
However having the man on several occssions say he has deposit over 60k usd publicly, 600k ped or was it 80k, anyway I know it was a lot more than I over the years and to win this small amount back in a "team" between several people is much like how an addicted gambler goes on after returning back from the poker machines with a $1000 win after putting through $10,000.

Reality bites I guess once the moment is over and you do the math work.
How many years did it take of hardcore constant depositing play ? 5+ years, hardly worth it imho.
But at least they got something in the end. 1 out of ever 100 players "may" experience the same thrill :)

So really, nothing to see here, move along, it is the same old gambling lure and hook being thrown out by MindArk to suck in more gamblers. Kind of a sick approach in a way really to have to do press releases on such things, like there is nothing else to make the headlines with, Entropia is shallow, but it does has gambling lol.

  11. I do most of my posting elsewhere, although I read all the forums, but I had to make an account to respond to this guy.

First off, it wasn't "several people" it was 2, and our damage split for the hunt was exactly 2:1, and therefore I averaged out the ATH with Stig to reflect that because he died. I still cleared over around 44,000 PED after evening the loot, and tips. YES, it WOULD take a dozen more for me to break even. So what? That means you get to call me an addicted gambler?
I play the game because it's fun...I am not running around saying, look what I made...EVERY person in this game that is a regular player and forum reader knows that I deposited way more than what I will ever get out. All I want is for the fun to be worth the losses I do incur. Sure I have gone through bad loot periods as evidenced by my rage posts on other forums, but the fun was always worth the amount I could afford to lose, because if it wasn't, I would have already moved on to the next addiction.
And "reality bites"? Seriously? The only one who gets to judge my reality is me. If it is "hardly worth it" in your eyes, do NOT attribute that to me or MY LOOT. YOU cannot judge what is worth it to me, or anyone else who plays this game, no matter what level they deposit at.
No one is hiding anything here, no one involved in this loot is claiming that I made PED in this game overall. The one thing I am sure of, however, is the PED I lost was worth the fun, to ME, and I feel that you are over-stepping here with what you wrote. It is NOT a "gambling lure" to talk about this loot, it is a FACT, a definitive, quantifiable loot, that occurred in a game where people like me pay enough to get lucky once in a while. And afaic, if MA or anyone wants to talk about it or write about, they can, because it was me that earned my share of that loot, and unlike what you so glibly dismissed, there definitely is "something to see here": And that is that this is a fun game that loots like this can occasionally happen in. Nothing more, nothing less. And it is not a "sick approach" to talk about it.

  12. Hi Taco,

Firstly, I stated my opinion, not about what you think, this is not about you as a person, only your in the moment behaviour recorded. So suck it up and get over yourself.

Secondly, glad to hear you like spending several times what you get returned in such an occassion (win) after many years of heavy depositing play. Simple fact is, the activity your doing is gambling. Again suck it up and learn to accept it.

Thirdly and most importantly, there is no arguement with you. I was simply protraying the fact of how MindArk writes these press releases to make out that this is a common occurance and that people WIN when in fact like in your post, specifically stated you have LOST many times over the amount you had RETURNED to you in this so called win.

My opinion is my opinion, this is not about you. Your just the example being used, there are others just like your example (Same old same old, nothing new in this). I know what the game entails having been there done that at your level on a number of occassions over the last 8 years. I am still actively playing and depositing too.

My quarrel is not with you, it is not with anyone. I am merely stating the fact of how MA writes such acticles which does not include any of the behind the scene facts of what it costs (loss to) the player to so call such things a win in Entropia for 95% of players.

It is obvious that my opinion of comparing your behaviour to that of an addicted gambler winning an amount at the poker machines stikes similar resemblance has affected you. I guess reality does bite in the end otherwise it would not effect you in a such a way, needing such a defensive reply to my posted "opinion" of what your behaviour "resembles".

And for the record I nowhere called you an addicted gambler now did I.
I only made an observation and comparison. This does not mean I specifically called YOU one. ;)

There is nothing to see here, move along, same old MindArk lure and hook to draw more people into an excessively expensive game, for the rich cashcow gamers that enjoy gambling out there to make money off.

MindArk's press release simply avoids putting in any of the facts that go with such press releases.

    Happy Hoffing :)

    Welcome to EP ;)

Question is, would you play the game to the exact same extent if it wouldn't be about real money and would have a balanced loot distribution?

Imo, unfortunately it is MindArk who with this press release factually advertise gambling. Not really advertising the fun you can have in the game, the innovative features it has, the rich content to enjoy, the great community around it, no, they solely highlight the money you can "earn". Fact is one cannot "earn" but only play endless series of really tiny games of chance for really tiny fees and in the end the bank (=MindArk) always wins. Imo, that's gambling.

  14. Dear Taco (And tabtabs),

This is the point I was trying to get across if you missed it from my first reply in this thread.
Thankyou Tass for spelling it out for the vision impaired. (Short sighted ones)

    Cheers.

  15. Look, all I am saying is does a Casino advertise how much players lose, or do they just talk about the big progressives and jackpots won?

Look on the walls in any casino. They talk about the JACKPOTS WON...in their ads, and on their walls. MA isn't doing anything different. And just like every person in the WHOLE world knows, nobody gives away money for free. To expect that a casino, or MA, or your state lottery, to actually tell the bad side with the good is a fools errand. It is not their job. It is OUR job to play with what we can afford to lose, and to engage in activities that we deem worth the cost to participate. And if ANYONE needs to be told that in any sort of activity, like a casino or RCE, that there is a cost to play, and that not everyone will win, then they probably shouldn't be participating in the first place. The fact is, you are saying that MA should not talk about these loots, without talking about the losses, and that is bs, because we all already know that no one gives anything away for free, and we all know there is a risk, and a cost to play.

  16. Now I will quote your entire post as to not take it out of context and since it is new subject matter in itself.

You start off saying, look all I am saying .... Does a casino advertsie ....

But where did you start saying in even a round about way before that MA/Entropia is a casino and gambling in your first reply to this thread ?

So now your saying you are gambling and that Entropia is an online casino with a game front end to it.

I will stop there as I am not going to go down this slippery slope ...

I think you have been too confined & conditioned to PCF forum community (If you call it that) posting mentality and environment settings to reason properly your desired point.

MindArk have sp[ecifically stated Entropia is not gambling, has no gambling mechanics involved and that it is not a casino with a game front end, blah blah blah ....

Yea right, most of us who play know otherwise, but now you are defending them for being something they pretend and go to lengths to disguise themselves in the media and to the authorities not to be ?

Kind of surreal in a way :)

It's all good Taco, on a personal note, enjoy your lightened loss. At least you did get a little back from the pool of players absorbed finances to ease the excessive cost to play.

The most important point is that you do enjoy what you are doing. Hence why I started out my first post in this thread with "Not wanting to steal away the excitement and thunder from Taco & crew" ;)

    Take Care,
    DCB/Viper

PS. I did cheer to see you get this, I do not like however MindArk's trickery of how they advertise and protray it to the media though to lure and hook others into playing.

PS. Welcome to EP, a place for open discussion and debate on Entropia and other games that is not moderated by Net Nannies and Nazi rulesets.
