best armour in the game!!!!

Discussion in 'Guides and help' started by joihnsonlee, Mar 30, 2019.

  1. i heard that gremlin or shogun are the best what do you think?

  2. There is no thing as being the best armor.
I never had gremlin and would never want one, takes too long to explain.
Just check the mobs that you do on regular basis, compare the damage they do, and check the armor's protection.
Then calculate how much damage that you would like to take as a max, so that you can play the style you would like.
I prefer hunting without armor, I rather heal with a eco fap, a fap will give skills, to much protection will not give skills and cause extra decay.
So if you hunt a mob that does 4 different damage types, and your armor protect against these 4 damage types, you will have more decay, then when a armor only like let's say protects against 2 damage types the mob does.
So basicly it's up to you to decide.
I would suggest grab Adjusted Pixie as basic armor unless you are all ready hunting bigger, and get more damage then you would like.
And I think Shogun has basicly no MU anymore, so that would be also cheaper to get.
I assume that people still ask like +60 on a adj pixie.
I'm to lazy to compare the adj pixie - shogun, so that's something that you could do.
I know that shogun has some more protection versus adj pixie.
As said, you do the math. (Everything is based around calculations in this game)
And if you are not that good in math, just make a small spreadsheet with TTin - TTout and do like 10 runs orso, and compare the same matching runs with a different setup. (And also you have a nice way to track the returns that way.)

It is no longer the case that overprotection incurs extra decay, you only pay for the damage absorbed now and there is no more minimum. Also before this change, even the most eco fap was more expensive than armor (save for said overprotection). The skills are good to have ofc, just that you need to know you're paying for them.

  4. I made this comparison some years ago for Unlimited lower / midlevel armors. Note: these are older figures.. there are more armors out there now and some can even be adjusted/improved/modified (doesnt only include one armor from ark, the rest is caly armor). I personally have stolen imperium armor and it would win this contest. But still valuable if you only look at calypso armors (+ viceroy)

    lower mid-level armor comparison
With recent mid-level armor sales threads and the new armors that came from other planets, I wanted to know how the mid-level armors perform on 16 of the most popular mobs you would want to hunt when you are mid-level . So I used entropedia’s armor vs mobs on a number of different mobs. At the end I will try to sort the armors by best choice regardless of money, and the value for money choice.
Included in the list are low/mid level armors upto tiger. Excluded is raven, improved shogun, improved vigilante and community recognition because these armors are either not widely available or not available as a complete set (yet). Nemesis is also excluded because Bear is already a better armor, and not expensive anymore
All armors are plated with 5b. Ofcourse you would use other plates on some mobs, but the idea is to use the plate most hunters use overall. The damage behind the armors is avg dmg dealt. Mobs where the youngest maturity is not really huntable by all armors is excluded (like chompers which is really only doable for a few armors like tiger, jaguar and liakon). If same dmg is dealt, lesser decay decides ranking

    conclusion
tiger remains the best midlevel all round armor but it comes at a price, jaguar second, liakon a nice third.
best value for money in the top 3 goes to liakon.
in the mid range ghoul lives up to its name at a nice 4th spot.
best value for money is either phantom or boar, as those armors are dropping in price rapidly
in the lower range jarhead is the cheap alternative at spot 8.
The specialist armor paradox shows its worth on rextelum, phasm, araneatrox, scipulor, atrox and atrax. The new ‘cursed upon bound’ Viceroy is a top 3 contender for leviathan, kreltin and proteron. It’s almost everywhere a bit better than Gremlin, except evis gen. 03.

  5. That's what I meant with when a armor has like protection for like 4 difference damage types, and a mob doing those 4 damage types, versus a mob that only does like 2 damage types from that armor.
Anyway, long ago I used armor as a basic setup, I only wear one, when I realy need to, so that I don't need to heal to much in between.
And ofc there is alot more to consider, but I said this also in the past, you could write a book about the game mechanics.

But basic point is, don't always listen to peoples opinions, because they could have a way different playing style, then you have.
Some chase globals, HoF, some don't care about that.
That's why I mostly never advise anything.

I could sell you a Full Shogun, full Gremlin, full vigi, full Rascal, full ghost, and probably some others as well. All (M). I always enjoyed Shogun, GHost or Gremlin as all-round armours. Vigi or Rascal for robots.

Let me know if you'd be interested.

LOL! I loved my Lion. Because it looks cool. Never cared for the real protection or efficiency. It was one of two ingame. Nearly unique ...

But yes, Gremlin was once one of the best armors. Regarding Spawn's resarches it isn't that good anymore.

Remember when it was all about the pixie, then the rascal? the the gremlin?

Is Pixie still good? I'm confused these days about what the newbies use.

Yes Adjusted Pixie and the other planets' disciple armours, respectively, are still the aspiring hunter's best friend.

They have made using armour significantly cheaper, you might want to catch up with VU notes of the last 2-3 years. Many of the old caveats are no longer valid and using "bad" sets isn't much of a big deal anymore. Good old Gremlin, even less popular but collectible ones are entirely usable today. Übers are going for adjusted/improved/modified versions now but you really don't have to worry too much if you can't afford them.
