What would EU2 be like?

Discussion in 'General Entropia Universe Discussion' started by Wistrel, Jul 1, 2014.

  1. Hey Wistrel,

Aye I got StarForge to explore moreso the mechanics they have been experimenting with. It needs a lot of work, some more talent and definitely an injection of funds to come upto any sort of working standard. It seems the developers are still in the 'working out of the garage as their office' alpha phase.

Which reminds me, I have been conversing with the team putting together planet explorers in that some of the conceptual systems from here in Entropia may be used there, they still have a lot of other work to do on other things first, but imagine a game similar to Entropia with a huge multiplayer world (64-Bit Unity 5 once they finally release the engine, preordered - http://steamcommunity.com/app/237870/discussions/0/45350245272135603/?tscn=1404531607) supporting hundreds of users simultaneously (depending on the capacity of your link) in a voxel environment where users can fully manipulate the environment (To become regenerative in a later release), create things (Save to ISO blueprint format directly from the world, or create it in the designer) like vehicles - cars, trucks, boats, planes, weapons and much more (www.isoplanetexplorer.com/iso_list.php?nbre_iso=1&input_research=&choice=name&category=all) and then have a skill system attached to create a competitive environment for activating the use of those items similar to Entropia.

Its style of gameplay is very much like Entropia's present day being science-fiction based with dinosaurs, mutants, robots and sentients that belong to the planet (http://planet-explorers.wikia.com/wiki/Animals) along with further suggestions to look at what Entropia has to inspire them for more creations of their own (http://steamcommunity.com/app/23787...104291847/?tscn=1404499348#c45350245251942471)

Anyway getting somewhat off topic (http://steamcommunity.com/app/237870/discussions/0/45350245433067455/), but yea at least someone is actually looking at an EU system (skills & professions) from a conceptual basis to potentially incorporate a more up to date version of it :)

If so it will pretty much be a free to play version of Entropia straight off the bat except with many more features and functionality attached, except the RCE factor for now. They may in the future develop a player studio like SOE Landmark's (https://www.landmarkthegame.com/player-studio) for player created and sold content once they add full DRM to the ISOs people create.

Exciting times ahead for many of the smaller game development studios out there.

    Wistrel Kick Ass Elf

Hehe bad luck then, most of the stuff in the video wasn't in the game ;)

Yeh Planet Explorers is great. I backed those guys in the kick starter. Look out for the name "Wistrel Chianti" somewhere in the world when it finally gets completed = )

  3. Nicely done and sure will

You will probably find me roaming around in something like this if roaming high speed by land; I have all terrain turned off for harvesting and so I can see where the hilly bits are to launch off into the air dukes of hazzard style lol

    Tiger.jpg

Or flying around in something like this (Flying rocks, it is awesome)

    Jet.jpg

If not, probably taking a time out doing some natural gardening outside the colony's internal hydroponic farm :)

    gardening.jpg

All player created content. Some more bits and bobs on my image wall but all in all, it is a lot of fun to play :)

  4. Morning :)

    Since the other thread on P.E derailed somewhat and ended in a head on collision;
I thought I would sneak this one in for you Wistrel, The passionate devs at Pathea are making regular progress as usual on P.E, 0.83 update released today. A bug caught in it that they will fix before the weekend. Though looks good, more work to story, adventure and multiplayer modes, new mobs added, Monorail system refined, etc. Next big patch a0.85 sometime in September.

Other than that, tried The Forest yet?

And a small bump for a thread on how you imagine eu2 would be like. :)

  5. While digging around in the sandbox ... erm back on topic :)

I would like to see such elements such as demonstrated in this video in EU2.

    More info here

Player Diven Economy aspect (See Video - Yes it is Cry3Engine):
Gatherers, crafters, and traders: You are the engine that drives ArcheAge, and its economy is yours to control. Master diverse skills to craft goods and homes, galleons and castles. Transport and trade materials across the realm, braving danger and piracy to support your allies in wars that will change the fate of the world.

^^ Notice all the different vehicles ... and Mechs!

How many different moons, erm planets, erm, need to play it for 100+ hrs first before giving proper feedback.

This is one of the pictures from a co-op mission in conquest mode in the new arctic open-world,
doing the mission "Restoring the generators"
Apparantly your vehicles ingame can be upgraded over time too, woot!

  7. <removed message about OzTwo Huskking, not that he saw it anyway in doing exactly what was stated>

Here is a sample, of the co-op wave missions, one small aspect from the reading and watching of reviews I have been doing on this title since these updates were incorporated.

There are several aspects I would like to post in the form of videos but will leave them to later.
This one demonstrates comparatively the gameplay of Orion - Dino Horde vs Entropia's wave events. :wise:

Jetpacks, vehicle battles, tanks ... Main objective & side missions to complete ... *grins*
Well worth every minute spent to watch.
Maybe the Entropia devs can get some sort of  of what is on offer in terms of 2010+ gameplay .
See also next post on Destiny storyline & gameplay as discussed earlier in the thread.

  9. Recent Updates
I think these following most recent updates to Orion - Dino Horde deserve a mention also, something that would be worthwhile in Entropia Mk-II ...

    Jungle update:

    Player controlled mobs update ;)

Sample gameplay as a user controlling a dinosaur mob :tongueout:
This beats the ComPet <insert appropriate word here> we have been shown thus far by MindArk as their next big project that will be seperate to the Entropia Mk-I system we have present day.
Note: Player in this video does not know how to operate the camera properly. :D

    Steam_SentryTurrets.jpg

Sentry Turrets have just been added to the game via the (free) Arctic Update.
    The three turret types include:
    • Gatling Turrets
    • Flamethrower Turrets
    • Rocket Turrets

Move a few personal dispute posts to the thread made specially for that

  11. Something that I would like to see in a "potential" Entropia-MK.II is this style of natural live (& video recorded for later recall) developer updates each week to make a connection with the customer base.

Notice the live questions and answers between the development director, community manager, senior producer and clients ;) A lot of other good stuff in there too, explaining bugs resolved, what is new, what is upcoming, how systems work ... the list goes on ...

Wistrel may like this for developer updates  Landmark I will post more about at a later time.

Not sure how to use the ( stream ) ( stream ) tags properly :notworthy:

  12. Worth a mention here.
I would like to see a more immersive environment provided through such technology as facial recognition:

  13. Also "Voice Porting" which is another feature that will allow for realism in creating an immersive environment.
As seen demonstrated here @ 12:40 onward:

  14. I am a new player been at it approx 8 months now an there is a severe lack of combat/crafting mechanics. The whole plug and chug mentality is certainly not going to keep players around... With all the previously mentioned games coming out (destiny) EU is going to wither and die.

These are all really good ideas.
But talking about how to make the game better is only talking.

Is it possible to make any of these changes happen, or is it time to let RCE go?

I think the new compet will probably pull new players away... The universe will become even more barren.

What can we do to make a change?

  15. RAZER

RAZER Custom title ... uh ...

"wither and die" people have been saying for years and yet is some how stays around. Guess the RCE is just to attractive for some people. And there are changes to make the game better over the years, they just come in VERY slow, mainly because MA is small and they need to keep the economy in mind. Can't put in some cool powerful gun for a little money, as people will go nuts telling MA that their Mod Merc is worthless now. To be honest, they have lacked to take care of keeping prices down for a long time and now they can not do it anymore without people complaining and walking away. They should have looked at prices from the beginning and keep them lower.

So that something for EU 2.0, more balance to try to keep prices 'relatively' close to the TT value, maybe 10x TT as a max (or 20 or maybe even more), but certainly not 100's of times like some items we have now. Just remove stuff if it is just TT food and add new similar items (or the same ones) when prices get to high on others.

  16. AxeMurderer

    AxeMurderer Master Of Entropia

EU is not perfect but after a year no one will remember destiny

  17. Okay so maybe it won't dwindle to nothing. I understand it's called "entropia universe" and that term generally makes people think of change from order to disorder. It is true this system has stayed strong even though it could be better.
Ideas listed in this thread are spot on.
More interactive crafting is a must
But what about the carcasses of killed animals?? Why not create a new skill "scavenge" that will allow players to develops ways to use things they find in nature? Obviously skilling this should be very time consuming but it doesn't have to cost anything. Let players begin to make crude weapons from bones...leather armor...recycled bullet shells...
All buildings should be able to sustain damage.
Allow any player to claim a square of land to develop, buffs like rest exp or extra strength for sleeping/logging in a tent...allow people to destroy and take his stuff ..implement turrets/pets to protect his square of land...
So many easy things to make the game more fun
It feels like MA only wants us to pretend we are playing a game so we spend money...

PS- no way destiny will be gone in a year, the game looks sweet I hope it lives up to expectations.

Corban Evero Cash in game BTW if you want to chat

  18. One of the things that makes EU so very unique and outstanding is indeed the RCE.
The goal of any normal single player game is just to have a good time - beyond that they are meaningless.
This became different when MMOs were introduced, already spending time with other real people gives more meaning to the experience.
With RCE the meaning of the game becomes a very real one. Items have a meaning beyond their stats, decoration of ones property does come with real costs.

If MA would not blunder so much especially in regards to social immersion I believe the retention rate would be much higher.

When the advent of the subscription based MMOs seemingly got its firm place with WoW I was sceptical because I would not ever have been willing to play any subscription based game.
Later I felt proven right when one MMO after the other failed to emulate the success WoW had and the concept of F2P brought a lot of MMOs with quite differing quality.

Of course there are even still players playing the original Ultima Online... and there are numerous small communities and game providers (which earn enough to let the game run on).

But at large there is always the hunt for the next big thing in the gaming industry.
With the RCE MA has a unique attribute and to offer the same by any company involves such a huge risk that they might stay free from any competition for a time to come, but if no enjoyable game is offered this might not be enough.

  19. RAZER

RAZER Custom title ... uh ...

I'll let this one slip by so @McCormick can answer it :)

Nice idea, but when will the damaging of the buildings stop, when there is just a pile of ruble left? When will they be repaired? And who will pay for that?

Land Areas and CLD's are the way to do that but not the looting stuff. This game is basically PvE with a few areas of PvP. And what good will it do the owner of the piece of land if it can be looted. It will cost more money to defend it then it would bring in from taxes etc. So nobody would want a piece of land or when they do they will be dead land areas with nothing there to loot. I don't see the point in that.

Yep, that their business model. You are forgetting the RCE part of it all. Like I said, if having a piece of land will only cost you money, why would you get it?

There are lots of ways MA can improve for sure, but they do have to keep the RCE component in mind all the time. They can not just implement a 2x better weapon, as that would devalue the current ones, they can not just introduce small cheap pieces of land as that would devalue the current ones that people payed lost of money for.
