  1. I would like a more honest "What went wrong" statement from Cyrene....:P

Is it possible to file papers to have at least half of your heritage changed?

It's a shame that we have to resort to racism. Do you really blame all this on one nationality/race?

Guess we may never know the real reasons but perhaps it was some kind of misunderstanding between MA and Cyrene. I think this is a distinct possibility because I from what I remember I think it was Ed who said somewhere something like they were expecting to launch at a certain date but had no idea they couldn't due to reason x from MA. Which by the looks of it seems to be misunderstanding. If that is the case neither or both parties may share some of the blame. MA may have it written in some kind of agreement documentation which may have been lengthy and so not easily accessible. So although technically MA could say both parties agreed to such and such but perhaps they could have foreseen the issue and warned Cyrene before hand? Sorry just me speculating again ...

 @ wistrel thanks for the quote it reminded me of the actual quote by Ed... and Ting I think I finally understand the full extent of it but since it's speculation and may reveal too much I'll refrain from posting...

Now you're starting to annoy me with your comments Ace, especially if you think that Peter and I were being racist against the Swedes. :rolleyes (2):

Speculating as much as you do, and in the way you do, you've already learned how many times you've been wrong and way off base, so I don't know why you continue to do it.

As someone who was an official on the Cyrene Team for a year, I have a greater understanding and respect for what goes on behind the scenes that the community never learns about when it comes to interaction between MA and the PPs, nor should we.

Speculating is not always a bad thing, and can actually be fun, like trying to unravel a mystery, but sometimes it just gets out of hand and can cause more damage than not. We never know all of the variables that come into play, and some of the speculating that makes it into print is just wild tale spinning.

I do have respect and appreciation for how some speculate, and they give us something to really think about, but for others, it's just pure nonsense.

Off topic... I thought there was only two races on earth... Me and humans.. :sneaky:

On topic... I would rather them wait until all their ducks are in a row, (for ease of killing ) then launch with what they have then play the sorry game.

@ Topic: I do not understand what you have to argue about soft or hard launch.
Come over to Cyrene and looks to you. Com we have a great and lots of fun.
Launch is what we have because we do not care.

  12. Well, I had big hopes for Cyrene because I thought the team had a lot of resources (money) for the development and it looked really good before the launch. But something must have happen when the speed of the development have been so slow since the canceled "hard launch". I have been on Cyrene and I am honest when I say I like how Cyrene looks better than for example Arkadia. But that is not helping when the planet lacks much, only 21 pages in the AH tells a lot of the lack of economy. And without a real launch and improvements, with some more heavy marketing from Cyrene, how can the numbers of players increase? Going to slow.... But I hope it will speed up, because as I said, I like the planet/story.

  13. RAZER

RAZER Custom title ... uh ...

Last thing I heard is that cyrene on target. It might not be the target we, the players want, but they seem to be on their target. If they indeed have lost of stuff ready to go they might.be waiting for Mindark or maybe for us as they plan to launch stuff according to what we do.

  14. I started to feel a big problem with Cyrene the day you announced that you were leaving their team. I really wanted to see what you could bring to them when the planet was fully released. I hope maybe if they ever do release it you will go back to them and start up were you left off.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1

  15. Well I think that's one of the main problems right now. I think last I read that the Cyrene team is waiting for MA to release this system.

Thank you OZ, that's a very generous comment, and I appreciate your sentiments. I really love Cyrene and the C-Team. their work quality is amazing, and I still keep up with Tum on FB - he's the one who did the graphic sketches for my Covert Ops Series, and his work is brilliant.

I especially loved working with Ed when he had time to devote to the writing, and therein was the problem. We had to work together on what I did both behind the scenes with my official writing, as well as the Covert Ops Series, and Ed had very little time available due to his involvement with the development and other projects.

When we were able to connect, it was some of the best times both of us had (he told me the same thing), and we had such a great time working together - it was easy, comfortable, fun, and in sync. Unfortunately, I ended up with an official avatar for a year who really couldn't do anything in the game, and I wasn't really able to work on all of the projects that Ed had lined up for me because of the time factor.

However, I knew what Ed was involved with, and how much of a demand there was on his time, so I didn't blame him for anything - he had a lot to deal with, and I could see and understand why his time was limited.

Working as closely with Ed as I did, it gave me a different perspective of the development process, and just how challenging it can be at times, so I have a greater appreciation and understanding, not to mention tolerance for some things that many in the community complain about. I'm pretty sure that in the time that Lykke has been an official with Cyrene, she could attest to the same things as well.

When I resigned from the Cyrene Writing Team, there was a mutual understanding as to why, and the door wasn't closed, so I'm hoping that sometime in the future when things are more settled and in a rhythm for Cyrene, Ed and I will have an opportunity to work together again.

I would very much like that, because the Cyrene storyline is absolutely brilliant and massive, and I can't wait to see how it's going to play out in the game. He has awesome ideas, and I very much wanted to be a part of that. And btw - Kris is an awesome guy as well, and I still connect with him on Skype now and then.

Personally, I think that Cyrene is still working hard and had a great update this last VU. I also think that they are flying a bit under the radar right now and not making a lot of fanfare while working on making sure what they have so far is working properly before any major expansions. I think (in so many words) Kris has actually shared this thinking with us in a post sometime back.

It's a smart focus - to work out any kinks to get it right, instead of continuing to add more and more content that just seems to add to the bugs and glitches. It's admirable to want to have things running smoothly before expanding. I would rather a developer take their time and really direct their energies where they're needed the most, rather than adding stuff without rhyme or reason, other than to collect PED.

I'm going to stop here and reserve the rest of my thoughts for some opinion pieces at MSM, and may even do one here for EP - I owe them an article.

The last thing I'll say though - in my opinion - Arkadia has shown us how it's done right out the gate, and I will expand on that more when I write my opinion pieces.

I blame OZ for the length of this post - he inspired me by firing an anchor that brought back very pleasant memories of my time with Cyrene - thanks OZ.

    Yes.

I've read it over and over and even after a few days it still looks like racism to me because you are directing something against a group of people. If we were to replace "swedes" with another group of people say "Jews" or "Chinese" it would still be racism and perhaps easier to see if you don't see it for what it is. However, I think a part of you knows it's racism but you don't like to admit it and it makes you uncomfortable.

You probably didn't mean it in an evil way as such. To you and mindstar they may have seemed like light hearted jokes. To the people at the receiving end of these "jokes" they can be quite harmful. Furthermore if repeated over and over you will probably start believing them as indeed readers. Perhaps you are already at that stage? because I have heard this type of comment before...

While admin seems to be brushing it off, Mindstar you seem to be defending it by your position and knowledge you may have. No matter what you know and we don't, it still doesn't make it right. If you wanted to direct something at MindArk that would be understandable but your blaming a whole race which is unjust. Most swedes may not even heard about this game let alone played any part in the delay of Cyrenes launch.

I'm sorry if I annoyed anyone. It seems to me I have a habit of making posts which are "unpopular". I have tried toning or watering down what I have to say but the end result always seems to be the same. Perhaps it's not just how I say it but just the nature of what I have to say which is majority of the time a contrarian viewpoint.

Since I have tried and been unable to conform or change my viewpoint I doubt I will ever really fit in here. Admin I therefore would ask you to delete/ remove/ or ban my account as I will no longer be logging in to make any posts. Since I will not be logging in any messages I receive on here will be go unaswered. So please do remove my account. Thanks.

  18. wow guys relax a little,

I think everyone here in these last few posts have gone to extremes.

Light heartened fooling around on one end to swinging down the judgement hammer on the other end.

A little bit of bitterness and high horsed mixed in to the mix as well on all sides.

Maybe a time out by a few, maybe an apology by a few for not being more mindful.

But seriously guys, this looks bad when predominate people in our community start flinging responses back and forward to one another in haste which are distasteful.

Anyway time to make up, hugs all round and move along.

Ace, don't do anything rash  I am watching you :biggrin1:

  19. Hi Ace, I think you maybe missed the that the one writing the comment was from Denmark, so when jumping on "Swedes", like MA and I, it was more of a joke ;)

Oops, looks like this took a somewhat unfortunate direction.

First, speculations are great, no matter how much they are off. To say it with Kris:

I'm also sure there's no racism involved, just an "offhand" joke you can consider either inappropriate or funny.

Let's have more respect for each others opinions, especially for unpopular opinions. We should even encourage people to voice their unpopular opinion and appreciate they share it with us. Or in rating-click-buttons: Opinions are rather something one can agree with or disagree with, not something one should dislike but rather something one should like even when disagreeing.

GeorgeSkywalker, please stay with us! Really!
