Entropia Universe takes Virtual World Citizenship to a whole new level!

  1. Most of us would agree MA has done something "interesting", but there are many who do not perceive this as "good"...

Based on the last 12 months, so yes I would say they calculate every week or maybe every month

Interesting indeed, good is yet to be seen in about a year or 3/4 (when everybody is supposed to have their money back based on ROI).

    what is not good?

a small land plot (people have asked for), citizenship with voting (people have asked for), a direct investment in the future of the company (people have asked for). thats whats on offer, and people are crying about it? after "more/better loot" i would say those are the top 4 wish list items for the collective player base.

put it another way, if every avatar brought one or two, it would mean MA will be able to push on to the next level with that investment, what is not good about that? ironically i think the offer of a return has skewed and distorted peoples judgement, they could have sold 10-20k of these just on the land and voting proposition.

  5. I'm certainly not crying about it... I just don't like it.

What's not good (in my mind) is that the $6 million deal Mindark had hoped for fell through, and this entire deed system reeks of desperation to get the money from SOMEWHERE in order to keep the company afloat.

That concerns me, and I don't think it is a good thing.

It looks like the supply of deeds is more than the demand. Interesting

I'm seriously doubting that there was 60m PED just sitting idle on accounts that now is being used to buy these deeds.

Perhaps more will be deposited over time, or perhaps more will come in after the full press release. Time will tell :)

  8. Yeah, it's a lot of money, it will take some time for them to sell all of them. But if Calypso and MA/EU shows a good development in 2012 they probalby will get sold in 2012.

Alrigthy, what could be better for collecting and sharing all the info about land deeds and citizenship than a wiki page?

    There it is: http://www.entropiaplanets.com/wiki/Calypso_Land_Deeds

Because it's a hot topic I added a link to it to the sidebar at the top of the Planet Calypso dropdown.

    There's also a shortcut: www.entropiaplanets.com/wiki/CLD

If this is the first time you see the abbreviation CLD your are invited to use it. It's already added to the EU Glossary. ;)

Use the add2any module ([IMG]) on the upper right of the page to share it on social media.

And there's the RSS version of the page: Calypso Land Deeds RSS.

If you have anything to be added please just add it yourself or post it in this thread to be added.

    I think that's all... :headscratch:

  10. Ah thanks for the helpful wiki page.

This, I think, really clears things up. And amiss the murmurings of MA going down, I think this is the bright light we were looking for. $6 MIL + 50% revenue from Calypso = Awesome marketing. Now getting a massive amount of people to Calypso is a good thing is it not? That's potentially $10-12 MIL they will have on their hands for development/marketing within the next 3 years. And which ever way they use that money is a damn good thing.

I don't think MA is struggling with anything at the moment, and this should be an assurance of a better future. Because if Calypso needs anything it's the playerbase and we need to expand it.

Lol, no matter the situation an answer like this would have been quite unexpected:

    .

EDIT: Hm... 'sellling' half of a company's revenues to launch a marketing campaign for the comany's one and only product that has been introduced 10 years ago doesn't sound like a good deal either, does it?

Tass some people may find that misleading since it's not a real quote.

    and there lies the truth.

It certainly makes it a good deal for those who buy. Once the major marketing drive kicks in it'll attract more players. More players will mean a few more investors. Which will mean with time all shares will be sold.

More players and investors is good for MA and the existing players. What it also does it link buyers to calypso. Which is what this is all really about. More players who are linked to calypso will mean Calypso will endure in the long term. Capable of holding it's own against the multitude of planets to come. Planets like Cyrene who will offer real competition to Calypso not half-baked planets like Arkadia, NI and RT. Don't get me wrong these planets will eventually have a fully working economy and start their marketing etc but as we all know for the time being they are of little competiton to Calypso. That will soon change...

    And there's the press release:

Entropia Universe Introduces Citizenship and Revenue Sharing System With Expected Annual Returns of Up to 30%

    GOTHENBURG, Sweden, November 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --

MindArk, developer and publisher of the largest real money MMO, announced today that it will introduce a groundbreaking Citizenship System to Planet Calypso. The new system will provide revenue sharing to participants, and add a political system that will allow players to vote on major decisions affecting their virtual world, all for as little as $100 USD.

"Our new Citizenship System will have a strong impact on the social and Virtual Worlds industry", said Jan Welter Timkrans, Chairman of MindArk. "People have always had the opportunity to make money playing our game and engaging in the micro transactions economy. Now they can actually share in the revenues of their favorite planet with a Land Lot deed and help decide its future via the political system."

The new system grants users Planet Calypso citizenship and political voting rights. Citizens will also receive a share in the Planet Partner gross revenue of Calypso, paid weekly. Based on Planet Calypso's performance over the last 12 months, the potential return of investment (ROI) is expected to be between 27% and 30% per year. Each planet in the Entropia Universe is a separate Planet Partner, and the revenue share paid to deed holders will come from the Planet Calypso revenue stream. Sixty thousand land lot deeds offered at $100 USD each are available exclusively through the Entropia Universe global auction and can be acquired by anyone after creating a free avatar.

The new Citizenship System will showcase the economics of a successful Planet Partner on the Entropia Universe platform, and allow users to participate in that success. Planet Calypso is the oldest of the planets in Entropia Universe, with over one million registered accounts and over $400 million USD per year in user-to-user transactions. Until now, possessing land in Entropia Universe has been very exclusive, with the market price for land deeds ranging from $5,000 to upwards of $500,000 USD. In the new Citizenship System, just about anyone can share a piece of an entire virtual world. For more information on MindArk or the Citizenship System please visit http://www.entropiauniverse.com.

    LordLongLicious Do you fear death?

As some have pointed out above MA usually changes its mind ark and with it down goes the filthy lucre, as stated on the contract we sign with them they can just change their minds and there is nothing really we can do about it (caveat emptor, buyers, beware)...

...I still bare the scars of a failed NI promising planet because the PP suddenly removed all the bps rendering many crystals useless, changed the most active and cozy areas into Calypso-like refugee camps where you cant even properly launch or land quads, and killed the sympathetic papoo business personnel off for a New Jersey version of the calypso robots despite gamers protests and everyone threatening to leave.

And left everyone has. Yesterday I went there just to tt most of my remaining mats to buy some shop somewhere else with all the ped I got from it.

So when will be the first time they share income, or MA "haven't quite figured that one out yet"?

Another moment inspired by Bacchus? Just wondering. 8P

    LordLongLicious Do you fear death?

And I really dont like to rain in anyone's parade, just that this marketing thing has been done at least five times with NI and as we speak NIs planet partner is travelling around the world to get new players and investors to his planet every month (forgetting to listen to his once faithful gamers), what just ended up frustrating all the players who were faithful and willing to make NI big.
If I had not gone through this hellish dissapointment I swear I woud not comment anything here.

At least I managed to save my soc because I took it away from there, I did however lose many good members on NI because of the "relaunch marketing" FLOPS.

One whole year of marketing fails and broken gamers made me skeptic everytime I hear about entropias "marketing".
