Well, we're all gamers, so I assume there's a great many of us who already have an account with Steam. For those of you who do, I bring great news. As per now, it is possible for you to log on at EntropiaPlanets.com using your Steam ID.

If you are logged out, click on the button called "Log in or sign up" in the upper right, and you now will see not only the button we had already to login using your Facebook ID, but also a button allowing you to login using your Steam ID:

Clicking this button will take you to the Steam homepage, where you will be asked to sign in, if you haven't already done so:

Once logged in, you will see the ability to login:

Should you be completely new to EntropiaPlanets, you use the screen you are prompted with, which by default will attempt to use your Steam username. Should that name already been taken, it will add a numeric value behind the username. Simply fill in the rest of the values, and accept the terms to create a new account.

Should you already have an existing EntropiaPlanets account, click on the tab marked "Associate existing account":

In this screen, fill in your EntorpiaPlanets username and password, and then click on the "Associate account" button:

You're all done. Now your Steam account is linked to your EntropiaPlanets account.

Also new is the ability to show your Steam ID to other users. To accomplish this, click the little arrow next to your name at the upper-right, and select "Contact Details":

There, in the Identities field, you will find a new field called "Steam", in which you can fill in your Steam ID. You can supply this in several formats: Your Steam O-ID (i.e. STEAM_0:0:11111111), your Community ID (7656119XXXXXXXXXX) or a full Steam Profile URL (I.e. http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/7656119XXXXXXXXXX).

An easy way to find your profile ID is by heading over to the Steam site (www.steamcommunity.com), and after you have logged in, copying the link under "View my profile":

With all that done, on your EntropiaPlanets profile page, under the Information tab, there will now be a clickable link pointing to your Steam profile:

Steam will be even more integrated into EntropiaPlanets soon. Until then, please enjoy :)

Amber Knightley I see dead people.

Neat, any spoilers about what is to come?
I rarely use steam and I doubt I would connect here with steam until Entropia is available through steam.

Apparently MA is working on getting that done. I mostly figured we would be ready for it when that happens. I'm not completely sure what options are available yet, but I'm thinking about seeing if we can bring in some stats, etc. from Steam profiles.

Onlive is another intresting development. If EU was availabel through onlive it would solve a lot of the headaches of updating. However security would be a big concern since onlive is third party and may have access to our sensitive information.

  5. I wrote to Onlive when the service was new, so hopefully they know about EU.
Also strike that "may" - as the Onlive service basically is a remote computer that streams the screen to you, they do have all the data you enter or see.
So its a matter of if you trust them with that data or not.

Technically they could just cut your connection after you logged in and would have direct control of the avatar.
So even the goldcard would not protect you.

Having said that, I would still use their service, because really we are talking of a world wide distribution platform.
Abusing single accounts would shut down their business instantly so I really doubt they would do that.
