They did (temp) ban AlphaGeek (I think?. Maybe I'm confusing two people) after he called for some sort of a strike on EF. Similarly, Shinboi also made his threat/joke on the forums.

Other than that, if they were going to act against anyone speaking out against MA, they'd only have Brookyln left by now.

I often wondered how much PED Brooklyn makes as a cheerleader?:cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer:

Could be a nice in-game income :dunno:

  3. Well yeah I know about AlphaGeek and Shinobi but I thought Shinobi placed his threath in a actual support case directly linking it to him.

Old friend of mine from 6years ago got banned permanently from the game for saying "I wanna deck Marco lol" on the Stratics PE IRC channel that Marco used to visit. Its one of the reasons Marco left IRC for security reasons

Regarding AlphaGeek though, I know there are several ways to get a hunch if someone is the real guy on a forum but in the end for absolute proof you need to get the IP from the forum admin to verify its actually the person playing as for instance AlphaGeek which I think is wrong for a admin/moderator to disclose unless its a actual crime being committed.

I mean its not hard to sign up as someone in for instance a new forum, take some screens from their gallery on another forum. Post it on new one, pretend to be the person and then go FUCK YOU FUCK YOU ALL and attack people.

That would be a hard case to solve without breaching privacy policies between forum and user

  4. LOL! I`ve used a few cussings here without as much as a peep from admin. But if you wanna say to peter or lykke that, go ahead, but please do so in PM and try not to embarras em publically. Thats what doesnt fly in any forum.

  5. I dont wanna call Peter or Lykke idiots since they have nothing to do with the game besides playing and owning a forum. I want the official forum with the ability to give a opinion about someones performance at MA or a VU in a honest comment without getting banned

  6. AAH! Ups! Eh! Misunderstood ya, sry:) Carry on.

But I suspect admin wants to atract MA officials to be members here. Anyway the game is far too complicated and labor intensive for MA to ad more such aspects. Especially now with a expanding verse.

    Greetings EP.

There seems to be quite a few misconceptions and misunderstandings in this thread regarding the relationship and history between EntropiaForum and EntropiaPlanets (as well as some outright inaccuracies).

Hopefully this post can help clarify some of those issues, and offer some details of the situation that the EntropiaPlanets owners have, for unknown reasons, elected not to share with you.

The first official 'contact' between EF and EntropiaPlanets occured on Oct. 16, when a thread was posted on EF with the sole purpose of recruiting members to EntropiaPlanets. It is important to note that this thread was not posted by any of the EntropiaPlanets admins or staff, and indeed Lykke responded to the thread with a statement that such recruitment efforts were not desired:

The thread was deleted, and out of courtesy I sent the following private message to Lykke with an explanation:

Lykke responded to my PM with a polite agreement to refrain from actively using EF to recruit new members to EntropiaPlanets.

Because I held a great deal of respect for Lykke and VF, I considered the issue pretty much resolved, and I (perhaps naively in retrospect) assumed that Lykke would honor her promise to refrain from using EF as a recruiting ground for EntropiaPlanets, a forum with pretty much an identical area of focus and audience as EF.

During the intervening days and weeks, I began to notice more and more efforts by several EF members (including Lykke) to recruit new members to EntropiaPlanets. A latest example of such efforts are Lykke's posts in the Holiday Design Competition thread on EF:

To me (and many members who reported the post), this is a very blatant attempt to direct EF members to EntropiaPlanets. If you want to share your submission to the contest with EF members, why not simply upload the image to the EF gallery, and include it in the post?

Another example is the following thread that was posted on EF:
http://www.entropiaforum.com/forums/events/170658-1200-ped-worth-total-prizes-competition.html, a thread which Lykke apparently endorsed by her reply.

The main purpose of this 'event' is clearly to promote EntropiaPlanets.com, as is apparent in Lykke's own words in the event thread here:

The Events forum on EF, as most members know (and as explained in the sticky thread in the Events forum), is reserved for events that take place inside Entropia Universe, not as a place to promote other websites, or events on other websites:

It was becoming increasingly clear that the agreement Lykke had made with me regarding EntropiaPlanets recruitment efforts on EF was quickly becoming forgotten or ignored.

A quick investigation revealed that on Oct. 16 (the same day as the PM exchange between me and Lykke described above), Lykke sent over 500 private messages to EF members promoting EntropiaPlanets.com, a fact which I was not aware of earlier (and a fact which conveniently was not fully described here in this thread when the issue was presented by Lykke).

I know of very few forum owners or admins that would tolerate such activity. On the vast majority of internet forums, such blatant abuse of the private messaging sytem to conduct a recruitment campaign for another forum would result in an immediate and permanent ban. However, I did not wish to take such measures, so I sent the following PM to Lykke:

Note that nowhere did I say that all EF members were under such restrictions, nor did I state that any and all links to EP were prohibited (only those with a clear intention of recruitment). In other words, linking to an interview or article here on EP is certainly acceptable on EF.

Nor did I request VF or Lykke to instruct EntropiaPlanets members to refrain from linking to this website in any way, shape or form (which the opening post of this thread seems to imply), only to refrain from efforts to use EF for the purposes of recruiting new members to EntropiaPlanets.

For unknown reasons, the admins here chose to dramatically increase the scope of my request, (and seem to attempt to demonize me in the process):

Explicit request? Please show me where I made such a request.

Once again, as you can see from the private message I sent to Lykke, all of my requests were related only to obvious recruitment efforts, and did not mention anything related to linking to interviews or articles of interest to the EF community.

Where did I state that links to EntropiaPlanets interviews or articles would be prohibited on EF, or request that you instruct your members to refrain from such? :headscratch:

A clear example of how Lykke/VF's misinterpretation (or perhaps intentional misrepresentation) of the request I sent to Lykke in the PM quoted above is causing misunderstandings and resentment among the members here.

You and I have had a good relationship for quite a long time now MS9, and I believe that you would not normally consider 'back-door' efforts (Lykke's words, see the quote below) to sidestep an agreement made in good faith to be classy. I can only assume that you were not aware of all the details of the situation. Hopefully my efforts in this post remedy that lack of awareness for you and other readers who might be interested in the full story.

As for your last comment, I can assure you that I do not consider EntropiaPlanets.com a threat to EF in any way. The upcoming changes planned for EF (which have been in the works for several months before EntropiaPlanets even existed) will make such questions moot in any case, and everyone will plainly be able to see that I have no reason to view EntropiaPlanets as a threat or competitor to EF.

You say you understand my concerns, and that you acted how you did out of respect for me and EF. Do you honestly feel that sending out hundreds and hundreds of PMs in an effort to recruit members for a new forum is an acceptable and respectful undertaking?

If you do, I'd invite you to try the same PM spam campaign on 100 different gaming forums (or any other type of forum), and report back to us how many of those you end up getting banned from. My guess would be at least 80, and probably closer to 95.

A long time ago? It was barely one month ago, and your underhanded recruitment efforts were made the same day that you agreed not to engage in such activity, yet you failed to mention them in our PM conversation.

Many of those who responded to this thread have attempted to cast me as some sort of dictator or extremely heavy-handed webmaster. The truth of the matter is that my polite requests to the EntropiaPlanets admins were very much in line with commonly-accepted webmaster etiquette, and I merely asked for the same courtesy that any other webmaster or forum admin would expect, nothing more.

Lykke even acknowledges this principle of webmaster etiquette in her replies to my private messages, and in her replies in this thread. Her actions, however, seem to indicate a blatant disregard for this widespread webmaster principle.

And yet, despite all of the abuses I have detailed in this post, I did not ban her or anyone else from EntropiaForum as the vast majority of forum admins would probably have done. Nor did I delete the event thread cited above, which is clearly in violation of not only standard forum etiquette, but also EF rules.

In all, I feel that I have been extremely permissive, courteous and fairminded throughout this situation between EF and EntropiaPlanets. Sadly, I cannot say the same for Lykke and VF's handling of the situation, beginning with sneaky attempts to conduct a recruitment campaign on EF, and ending with what appears to be an intentional effort to demonize me here in this thread, by grossly misrepresenting the requests I made to Lykke via PM.

The sad part of all of this is that if Lykke and VF had simply approached me in a friendly manner as fellow webmasters when EntropiaPlanets was first launched, I would have been very much openminded about building a mutually beneficial relationship between the two forums.

The situation we have now has arisen by their actions and choices, not mine.

  8. Lot of words... just meant to distract from one simple question:

Why don't you simply allow people to direct other EF members towards the useful info here?

People can be members at EF AND EP at the same time, you know...

You might try to read the post, since I answer that question at least 3 times:

  10. Interesting, why is the upload of the official EP banner blocked then when you just want Lykke and Peter to refrain from pointing others to interesting stuff on EP?

  11. 711

    711

Upload of what banner, and where?

I have not blocked any images or banners related to EntropiaPlanets on EF.

I have no idea what you are referring to here.

  12. In over 2 years i never had trouble uploading an image file.

I tried the banner several times and it always resulted in an "Invalid file" error...

Ofc it is possible that this happened w/o any influence from you, but... how likely is that?

You don't actually think we sit on EF all day checking every picture that is attempted to be uploaded? :openmouth:

I've gotten invalid files a couple of times, for example when uploading a file type that EF doesn't allow (for example .bmp and .png)

I am not even sure it would be technically possible to filter image uploads based on the image content. How do you propose that such a filter would work? OCR? Some other as-yet-to-be-invented image technology?

I think if you were able to create such a product, you could make lots of money. It would be a very useful tool to help prevent sexually explicit, violent or other undesirable content from being uploaded to millions of websites.

In any case, I can assure you, there is no system in place to block any image uploads on EntropiaForum.

You should double check to be sure that the image you are trying to upload is of an approved filetype (jpg or gif), is within the acceptable dimensions, and does not exceed the maximum filesize allowed (2 MB, I believe).

Man, that tin foil hat is frying your brain Wizzszz...

  15. EF has a word filter already, i am pretty sure it is np to check an uploaded file against a checksum - but yeah, i meant for sure that you check them "by hand" :bduh:

  16. 711

    711

    A checksum? :bduh:

So are you stating that all images with the words "EntropiaPlanets" on them would have the same (or similar) checksum?

You appear to have a very poor understanding of image and checksum technology.

  17. Skam

    Skam Bobblehead

Oh come on Wizz.. Thats a bit too conspiratorical. :)

Did you check if your image was a jpg or gif? Thats the only two types of image files uploadable on EF.

  18. What a bullshit, it's just a couple of lines of code to compare the checksum of a file to a blacklist..

Bla bla bla, really... you know what i meant. I'm sure then there is no wordfilter either, eh?

So, what is your explanation for this error?

Rest assured, i HAVE checked it, and double checked it after the first error...

Ah, you want things to go more down the personal road, yes?

  19. Ofc i did - but tell me, did 711 alert you to come here and assist him? Or is it coincidence that you pop up right here just in time?

Just something for my tinfoil hat...

  20. Skam

    Skam Bobblehead

    Neither, I check EP regulary.

I've kept out of this thread until now though because I didn't want to discuss this whole "EP vs EF" thing you got going here. The explanation is in 711's PMs with Lykke, and I didn't want to be the one to bring it up.

Seriously though, if we had such hostility towards EP as you claim we do, isn't it weird we haven't removed the threads already made pointing to EP (one which 711 posted here) and some of the rather obvious posts on EF containing bolded letters etc to spell out "entropiaplanets".. entropiaplanets are not in our word filter. We leave that be. We didn't want this hostility in the first place ...but in spite of that, 711 is supposed to sit down, find some checksum of all the EP related images that we dont know about, and make a filter?

    :)
