Simple poll. Seeing Space is lootable, will you still go and check out other planets?

At this point as I am now, travelling light as an explorer. My biggest concern is if I wish to 'move' between planets. I am very happy I managed to collect all my shit from Calypso and moved before it was too late though.

Let's see what future brings. MA might change it if they see players are too unhappy ... or might not ...

  3. I never visit lootable PvP and its pretty doubtful that I ever will, if that means I am bound to Calypso then that is the way it is.

  4. I am hoping to move to Cyrene if it continues to keep my attention, good job I have very few stackable items to transfer but it does mean I have to avoid holding on to loot if I hunt between now and launch.

Also doesn't this mean people could lose a fair amount of PED if they pay to travel someplace, get blown up and revive back where they started?

  5. No.
Kinda wish now I had gone to visit Arkadia before this VU, but didn't really think they would be dumb enough to make space 100% lootable.
Ahh well, guess i'm on Calypso for good now.

GL up there those that like pvp. ;)

Hm seeing recent updates ... it's kind of smart of MA ...

There is no option in the poll to go into space for some pvp action :/

lol no :) but if you will, let us know :P

  9. 100% lootable?? Thats just moronic, stupid, asinine, dimwitted, idiotic, ludicrous, senseless, absurd, foolish, half-witted, idiotic.

  10. I do kind of like the danger element it presents and it promotes a "safety in numbers" mentaility. If we had the numbers it would be a bit like trade routes being formed between planets, stray too far and the pirates can pick off strays.

Maybe in time we can negotiate a treaty to have certain areas off limits to pirates.

I moved back and forth a few times and settled on Arkadia, and as it happens loot here is as shit as Calypso so go figure

    You're repeating yourself again! :p I know, I know, it's for emphasis!

Here, I'll help you out ... idiotic, idiotic, idiotic, idiotic, idiotic, idiotic, idiotic, idiotic, idiotic!

I absolutely agree with you Softy, as well as many others who are making it known just how wrong having all of space a lootable PvP zone is, and how it's going to be a huge deterrent for a lot of people who would otherwise travel between planets.

As a media person, my self-created profession from years ago requires me to travel in space and be able to meet people on other planets in order to collect information, photos, and footage for my work in our universe. However, if all of space except the parking area around space stations is PvP lootable then that's going to make it a big challenge, and ... it's going to cost me a whole lot more money.

Years ago, I stopped playing the game as I normally did because it just got to be way too expensive, and I wasn't getting the bang for the buck that so many talked about. That's when I decided to go full media and only engage in a hunt or event now and then, but very infrequently. It's worked out pretty good for me over the years in that respect, but now, MA just added another element into the mix that I can't avoid if I'm going to continue effectively with my work.

When I work on the magazine each quarter, I can write an article for each planet, which is pretty much what I did this last issue - "Sanctuary - Society Spotlight" (Calypso) - "Harold Sipe" (Next Island) - "David Dobson - After Launch Reflections" (Arkadia) - "Cyrene - Secrets and Covert Operations" (Cyrene). While I didn't have to travel to Cyrene because Ed gave us the photo content that we needed, I can see it happening in the future where I will have to be on Cyrene, as well as other planets.

I didn't mind so much having to pay the 40 PED to go to a planet, at least I know I got there, but now ... I have no clue what the costs are going to be, especially if I use the StarShip9 to get to a space station, or wherever I'm allowed to go with it, BUT ... now I have to buy a thruster to add to the ship, and then take my chances of getting PK'd and looted while trying to get to where I need to be in order to have an opportunity to transport to another planet - as well as add something more to the repair kit for the vehicle? That's total and utter bullshit!

People are already advertising for informants to let them know when someone goes into space so they have ready targets. I understand the concept of Motherships and potential safety, but Mothership Managers also have the ability of kicking someone on their guest list which puts them out into space where they will be choking to death - and in the meantime, will end up a likely target of those who have nothing better to do than hang out in space to PK. What if that person happens to be a trader with goods that he or she is transporting to another planet that someone else is paying them for as a service? Those advertising for informants are offering a percentage of the booty to the snitch.

Nice universe we've turned into. I was looking forward to space travel and the possibilities, but now ... with the entire area of space being lootable PvP, that's not going to happen anytime too soon at all. Maybe MA will rethink this move and pull back a bit, only having specific zones that are PvP or PvP lootable, or make a consideration for the media to be able to travel between planets without the harassment which I'm sure it will become with all of space being PvP.

For now ... I completed my exploring on Next Island, except for Ancient Greece (which I will hopefully get to do another time, because I want to wait until they have more updates with Time Travel), and I am back on Arkadia where I will stay and enjoy whatever activities I can engage myself in. While I really enjoyed myself on Next Island, I love Arkadia for many, many reasons, and this will be my home. However, when Cyrene is released, I'll need to travel there, and I hope by then something is figured out.

I am seriously wondering whether the PP all agreed on this or not. I can see the sport in PvP areas and I also believe they should be there for those who wish to get that adrenalin rush, but it seriously kill off everything that you are forced to travel PvP in between planets. I have been playing Afterworld too - and that was exactly the problem - that you where forced through a PvP area if you wanted to travel between areas (believe that changed). The result is a 'dynasty' of pirates / killers which will control the space - and my guess is, that it's going to be the same ubers again, who already controls pvp areas elsewhere. PvP should be a choice, not a compulsion - and the result will be as we see it in this thread, that people will stop visiting other planets. Bad for other planets than Calypso - bad for the pilots too.

Ofc i will with my whole inventory, every day i don't see any problems at all... I have to much cash and want to give it away.

I also only have 2 brain cells

    Lulz

Maybe at somepoint but i would make sure i had no stackables, and on anothers ship. At the moment though i plan on staying on Arcadia for a year so not an issue :).

I wonder what this update means for the prices of hangars. The fact you now are pretty much forced to fully armour and arm up, makes piloting darn expensive.I can see miners having a ball with the update, though :D

It's a definite change from the old "join the back of the queue for a risk-free 50 PED" kind of deal. And if independant pirates thought they were bullied before when they tried working around the line, they're in for something now.

  19. MA might change it if it doesn't make enough money, is my thought on it. Glad I am on Arkadia.

I voted as a trader, but will start out traveling light to get a feel for it first.
Meanwhile working on contacts with known ship captains and/or people expecting to purchase a ship.

I think that the idea and implementation was well thought out and should work well for the Entropia Universe Platform.
A lot of people are unhappy, but I think they are failing to see the larger picture.

Lootable PVP = only stackables ONLY
This will prevent issues which have has such public outrage already, such as the high supply of blood moss on NI and for all PVP resources on Rocktropia impacting other planets economies.
You may once again see 800% medical compress on Calypso who knows. (there was a lot of protests on pcf about these resources being on other planets)

Each planet is supposed to be bringing in their own players (not calypso players) Everyone abandoning Calypso for better planets (myself to Rocktropia included) are cheating the owners of Calypso of some of their revinue, this will prevent that somewhat.

The bottom line though is that in reality it WILL be cheaper to travel between planets with little to no risk. You just CAN'T take resources without risk.

This is good for the entire Universe, it promotes local economies who have been very dependent on Calypso soley for the reason that it was more convenient.

This is an opportunity for crafters on all the new planets, which in turn will drive the mining and hunting professions to be more profitable.

    (L) fighters have already sold for as low as 2k ped. This is GREAT and better than I had expected. NO its not something everyone can buy, but 200$ is not an impossible sum of money. VTOLS can be used to travel as well, there are hundreds of them in the game already. Sure in order to travel you will have to make it to space or have an attachment for your ship, but I beleive that the costs will be lower to travel than the tp fees were before, and because it is so openly avaliable there can not be a monopoly driving prices too high.

This is unfortunate for the hanger owners (but it sounds like they will still be getting added perks) but for the progress of the game It is looking very good.

I am sure there are lots of kinks to be worked out, and I probably wont be able to travel for a few weeks, but I think that most of your fears are unfounded.

Risk vs reward appear to be pretty good and it will be interesting to see just how big space is. That will determin how open the shippping lanes can as well as any potential bottle necks. (I am assuming that pk fighters will camp around the space stations where ships are comming into)

GL guys and have fun :)
