    Just was pointed to this.

    Trailer

Not looked deeply into it, but was told is to be RCE, anyone know more?

I know a few in EU who have bought ships that they say pay for themselves in 4-5 months. :tongue4:

Also guy bought ships for 8000 pounds and making 35 pounds a day farming the Atlas or something. Seems ships are tied to blockchain so are NFT kinda.

I'll download today and check out, is also unreal 5 engine, could be interesting.

    Co devs onboard look interesting.

  4. Well I had a good look at their site and also watched a few YT vids and it seems very good, but a crypto wallet is needed to sign-up to it.

Hmm... pretty trailer but have to admit I'm a little suspect of anything that would show off a pretty website and connect itself to crypto/NFTs. I realise that could be a bit foot shooting but there's been so many of this sort of thing going on it's pretty much a cookie cutter scam now to pay someone to make a fancy credible looking website for something that looks too good to be true then see who you can get to buy stuff for/related to it in advance of any game code ever being written. I mean, just look at how many spaceships for star citizen were sold on nothing more than a fancy painting.

Interested but will only keep a casual and cautious eye on.

  6. According to this (click on 'game overview' beneath 'connect wallet' button then scroll down to Inventory) the crypto wallet is used as an in-game inventory, but they could have done an ordinary API for that. It's also indeed very Star Citizen-ish, in that there's an out-of-game market place for spacecraft and such.

I think we can safely label this as Crytoscam and not a real scifi game. At best all we have here is some pretty paintings of spaceships. Anyone expecting an actual game to ever materialise I suspect will be sorely disappointed alas. It has all the hallmarks... let's face it, if someone was actually developing a space game here... they'd have more to show for it than a fancy website.

Indeed is where i am at moment, although am going to have a small punt on next ship sale (few opal jets to start $20 each), see if what i been told by people already with ships tallies with my experience. I'll even put something up here so people can follow what happens :D, but low cost to see.

    Total fleets deployed: 63,204
    Total Value Locked: $ 100,358,841

Those figures though on their discord made me look a little harder, will post more as i find.

I'm probably showing my age here, but I just do not get this crypto-coin/NFT hype. The ICOs done by MA and ND were purely hot air. Anyone dumb enough to throw their money at that is lucky if they get anything back. The way the whole thing was "marketed" at the time was a random forum where people who were absolutely clueless about MindArk were simply parroting one another and hyping things up.

It reminds me of WallStreetBets somehow. Or the other way around.

I hope this fad will soon be done. Too many unscupulous people taking advantage of people. I'm starting to lean the same way towards Kickstarter nowadays. I got a couple of amazing things from there, but was also burned on more than one occassion where a project was succesfully funded, and then the creators simply ran. Kickstart at the same time claims innocence but gets to keep their share of the money that was scammed.

    TLDR: People suck.

I'm of the same age, although i do find the concept interesting.

I posted a be careful message in OP, as like i said have little solid info at moment and would by no means re-mortgage my house for it :D .
If able i will maybe throw in a few $ and post here and see what happens lol.... for science :D .

I did that with Cryptocats or cryptokittens or something like that waaaaaaay waaaaaaay ago. No clue what it's called, or whether that's still even around or not. It was something about buying cats, who then could produce offspring with legendary stats if you were lucky. It sounded fun, yet it was designed as a pure moneysink. Sort of like a particular MMO you might have heard of.

    Sweatflix? :D

I know man, so many fast money grabbing schemes out there.

Just this kinda format i think could go a fair way and are a few popping up.

  14. I like this break-down of how Star Atlas works and couldn't agree with it more. Ppl will probably be waiting years for an actual playable game just like for SCitizen.

Yeh I don't think there is any harm in having a go at these things, providing you go in with your eyes open and speculate what you expect to loose in return for the education/experience. And indeed would be interesting to hear about it later.

That's what I did with that guy in Entropia who did the pyramid scam many years ago. I played it sensible though, doubled my (very small amount of) money and got out. That scam is built on people going "oh wow, lets do it again, here have even more money" so walking early is the way to go to avoid the eventual collapse. Same with the Anshe Chung Dreamland Stock Exchange. I only put in a small amount, enough for me to have a play and learn something. Of course I lost it but I think I gained more in knowledge/experience through trying something new out.

TBH I probably should look at crypto some time (just for the knowledge/experience) and all things related to it... but I have enough hobbies and many other things interest me more. So I don't think I'll be personally going there any time soon.

Certainly... at the moment... I comparing everything to chopping red and blue cubes in half with lightsabers... and the lightsabers are kinda winning most of the time ^_^**

  16. Had a good look at crypto in first few months of 2021 and even setup my own ASIC (application specific integrated circuit) mining rig to mine ethereum. Basically three USB ASIC stick modules @ 330mh/s plugged into a powered USB hub and a USB fan to keep the miners cool. But I soon realised I was just scratching at the walls, having made just 30-odd US$ in nearly two months of continuous usage, and the constant noise of the fan was just driving me nuts.

I know someone who bought a bigger ASIC and some USB ones too. Ran them for a bit and I believe made back the cost but in 6 months they were just used to pile stuff on physically.

  18. Sounds familiar, but for me the 30-odd US$ wasn't clear profit once I factored in the electric cost, plus the usb hub used to get fairly warm even with the fan.

    Are you using a quest1/2?
Are you doing just the stock/and purchase tracks, or have you explored sideloading from sidequest and beastsaber?

    Wistrel Kick Ass Elf

Quest2 Not explored sideloading/sidequest yet. But I've not had need to as only just bought the game and got the headset for christmas. Plenty to explore... much like my time in Entropia, I'm in no rush to try it all (opposite of a friend who got one at the same time and seems to want to try everything immediately - maybe I'm just happy with my simple pleasures of chopping blocks in half!). I hear there's even a VR MMO coming. That could be interesting.
