Cannot get passed character creation

  1. Hello Everyone,

    I am Sheppard, I am new to Entropia and bought myself the Platinum starter kit. Unfortunately I am unable to exit the character creation screen. All it does is zoom in and then zoom out back to the character creation. There is no error from the game client and it just wont move past the character creation screen.

    I'm wondering... this "zoom in zoom out" thing. Is it a sort of "blur in blur out"? If so I wonder if you have only got the character creation area downloaded and not the next destination? If you check the system chat dialog there might be some yellow text (iirc) explaining the problem.

    On the client loader, check Tools --> Planet data tab and see if the planet/area you are starting is downloaded or ticked?

  5. It is the "blur in blur out". I have downloaded every planet and area possible though. I have opened a ticket over 36 hours ago and still have not heard back.

    36 hours till first reply on a support case is not uncommon, and it was a lot worse till some years ago. Weekends are usually slower and MA 2 months summer vacation might be too :)

    I guess you've tried everything possible already to escape the situation. Given that and that you have not really started yet I'd say create another account and try again, so you at least could find out whether it's something with your setup in general or 'just' some weird bug on your first account. That said, multiple accounts per player are not allowed (at least not when you are not a member of MindArk's buddy network), so in case you try this path you should inform them per support case that you did so to work around a bug and ask them to terminate the second account. You certainly don't want to lose the account with the Starter Kit :)

    Just to verify, you have all of these downloaded to 100% ?
    (make sure to scroll down, there are lots of them)

    Yes everything has been downloaded 100% I am now over 72 hrs without an update from MA for support

    Are you able to use the chats yet? I can't remember if they are inabled in the creation room. If you can then ask in rookie chat, there are advisor aviators often online in the rookie chat group.

    Have you checked the npcs in the creation room? Perhaps you haven t triggered a required "lesson" yet?

    Sorry just throwing ideas out... it's been years since I started and there wasn't any starting area maps then.

    Does the system chat say anything (yellow text)? Other thoughts are that there might be something you need to do before leaving. Might be worth finding one of the videos people have made of the starting experience in case there is something in one you've missed? try sausage fingers. I think his intro videos that cover all the free stuff in Entropia might have started in the calypso avatar making area.

  17. Nah its ok! You just send a message to staff and they'll fix it for you! Think of it like a mini test to see how serious you are about this new business venture.

    The fact players are unable to create an account the normal way should tell you something about how serious MA takes their business venture...
     
  19. Kids who get access to their parents credit cards are a liability in every online game. I had to help a woman get $200 refunded after her 6 year old bought mountains of phone game app junk. There comes a point where you have to assume that, if the bug is still there after all this time, then it has simply become a basic barrier of entry. If you can't figure out how to contact support for help through character creation, you are neither old enough nor serious enough about this game. That's what I call "quality control."

    I usually assume that quality control is pretty much absent if something this glaringly obvious (pretty similar to plenty of other bugs that are usually found very quickly after releases. I suggest searching this forum. It doesn't take much effort to find a whole bunch of those cases) is overlooked. The frequency with which obvious bugs are overlooked as well strengthens my belief that it's probably that nobody at MA either knows how to test properly, or gives a fuck, or both.

    Luckily for MA it's not as if there's literally thousands of other games just waiting for people to throw their money at. Oh wait.
