None of you probably know this, but I am a huge fan of racing. I like to watch everything with 2 or more wheels race and even some with wings. The racing sport has come a long way the last years and very few people die during races. The last Formula 1 death was Ayrton Senna on May the first 1994 at the San Marino race. So racing cars has become safer and safer and even motor cycle races are very safe these days with all the clothes they wear and the safety of the tracks. One thing you can't prevent is a collision between drivers on the track and most of the time even this will end up without much harm. Last Sunday however a 19 year old Japanese race driver died during the Moto2 (1 step below the top of moror racing) at the Misano racing circuit. An apparent innocent fall turned very bad when the driver was hit by 2 of the bikes that were driving behind him.

This video shows the accident how it was broadcast live on TV. Know that you see the accident if you watch this video, but there is no graphic images.

2 memorials for Shoya on Youtube:

He was said to be a very promising driver and had great potential.

    The other involved drivers:

Scott Redding: Redding suffered cuts to his back in the accident and needed 10 stitches to repair his wounds.
"Scott's only 17 and for a young person I think it's a bit of an ordeal for him," his father said.

Alex di Angelis: He walked away from the accident without any injuries

I just learned that on august 29th another motor cycle racer, Peter Lenz, died. This time it was a VERY young boy at the age of 13. This was in a race between kids before the MOTO GP.
With this accident the driver was also hit by another bike. This led to talk about safety in bike races. I think nothing can be done about freak accidents like this other then not racing at all
