Finally got around to reading about the EVE scam on your blog, I've seen this kind of behavior in every game since I hit the interwebs and that's quite a few games. But I'm at work on lunch break, I'll post a comment when I have time at home to devote to it. Even back when I was playing EVE there were various "big stinks" about this player or that group scamming people out of whatever. Joining orgs, getting access to finances and blueprints and ships and draining the coffers dry then hightailing it outta there.

I think it comes down to, you can design and put a game out there, but not all players may have your agenda in mind, and may decide to play their own game within your game. That game is called "screw other people."

I expect it's the same sort of mindset that motivates people who sit around creating malicious viruses all day.

But yeah, extensive response in due time.

Noting in passing that the wikipedia article about Entropia Universe, under Cost to Participate, lists one of the activities available to players with little or no money is "Trickery: cheating, or stealing." Which took me aback in the sort of brutal honesty, but hey...I guess it is an option, in any game, sanctioned or not.
