Know Issues - New Forum

Hey all
We have a few issues with the new forum, which we will fix the next days.

Unfortunately this cannot be done faster because of real life jobs :) - sorry for that.

To take an example .. some of you might find, that you are suddenly a part of the forum staff. That might NOT be the case. The forum permissions got screwed up in the transfer, which means that we have to set all permissions again. Because of this we decided to close all private forums until this is fixed.

Some pictures are missing - and that is because the gallery is gone. Pictures can be uploaded directly in a post instead. If you used to have a picture or banner in your signature, please upload it again. otherwise there will be small red crosses around.

On a few pages the style went bananas, and there are black text on a black background. All this will be fixed by time.

It's a very large job, changing from one type of forum platforum to a new forum platform - but I'm sure it will be awesome when everything works as it should again.

I will look into the issue, Razer :) thanks for pointing it out.

I'll add a couple:

• editing a post makes it disappear, and you have to get the thread again to see the post - seems we have to "refresh" the page to see it again - is this a feature, or a bug
• trying to interface with FB gives an error

And some wants/wishes if possible:

• can the width of the forum be reduced - would show more background and create less white - but I'm not complaining about the white just so you know :)
• can the default font be changed to Arial, because the numbers don't show up right - Ex: MS9
• is it possible to get a divider line after the subject title, and well as one to separate the signature area
• can we get a space between a quote we add and our text
• in our avatar area on the left, is it possible to have text showing in the "Home Page" part instead of the URL with it still being a link

That's it for now, if I run into anything else I'll let you know, but so far so good and I love the change BIG time. Thanks for the new environment, and I look forward to more features to come.

I agree ... the Verdana is great too, and I think pretty common, so that would work quite well. It does make it easier to read for sure.

Razer, I actually changed a lot of the fonts already in the Calypso Forum to Verdana - because that is my favorite font. I hate fonts (like this one) with 'feet' in it online and I really don't get why that was set as the default font on an online forum.

Nevertheless changing fonts in all sections with text on all the skins is something which takes time, and I might cheat and ask the xenforo community, if there's an easier way to do it. I went into the main css for the styles, but could not really see if there was one place to do this only.

I decided to change two of the forums into 'dark' forums. Those will be ROCKtropia and Cyrene, because they are already dark. This way you can choose what will be best for your eyes. The skins needs to be reversed then, and that might be a pain in the 'ass' because I changed some colors in the css-files - but hey, we won't know until we tried it ;)

I promise you ONE thing though - it's not going to be tonight - because we had only 5 hours of sleep last night because of the upgrade - and we NEED sleep lol!

Here's something else:

• on the top right, the Search bar covers up our avatar name where we go to the drop-down menu

that is unfortunately a browser issue, Mindstar, and will be removed if you use Firefox (for example). We had other issues with the other forum with other browsers too and it is just not possible to make a platform fit into all browsers. I do hope they will find a solution for that - but I can recommend using Firefox instead of Explorer at any time (I always used Explore myself, until I found that I had problems with a lot of websites and Peter pointed me to Firefox)

Well, the thing is ... I DO use Firefox ... have used it for a long time, so that can't be it.

Could you post a screenshot, MS? We'll look into it. I just cannot seem to reproduce the error.

Sure thing Peter ... here you are! I captured the whole thing so that you can see that I am indeed using Firefox as my browser.

that is weird, I use the same skin and do not have that problem on Firefox. I can also see your bg pictures are way more behind the actual forum. Did you try on both your stationaire pc and your laptop? Is this taken from your laptop?

This is taken from my desktop PC, the laptop is shut down right now.

And with regard to the background pics ... it's why I mentioned to Peter about maybe changing the width of the forum, but if this is something unique to my computer right now, then I need to figure out how to fix it.

It depends on how wide your screen is too (the bg picture). About the navigation - I have no clue tbh. I can see it without problems both on Explore at work and on FireFox at home. So it's difficult to find out the reason. But we will look into it.
