EntropiaPlanets celebrates 1,000 members

Wow. Just wow. That's the main thing we are thinking right now. Who would have thought, some 8 months ago, when EntropiaPlanets first launched, that within a year, we would be celebrating 1,000 registered users? Not us, for sure, and yet, here we are.

The idea behind the website started a few years ago, and after a false start (using ASP.NET as a technology, and a very basic framework as a starting point. We dismissed that idea due to the sheer amount of work required to get even close to offering the functionality vBulletin is able to offer), it finally launched the last day of September last year.



From the beginning, we wanted the site to be a forum where Entropia enthusiasts could speak freely about other games, and where the goal would be a single site offering all the information that required you to register and sign up on numerous other sites before. At the same time, we wanted to try and involve the community itself to be part of the whole thing as much as possible - A forum for gamers, by gamers. Granted, we have not yet accomplished all these goals, but in those 8 months, massive amounts of work have been done already. Let's list a few of the highlights:

• We managed to secure interviews with a few of the planet partners for the upcoming planets, and were able to bring you news from these unchartered worlds first. Thanks lots to NEVERDIE for giving us a sneakpeak into Next Island, and ROCKTropia, and to the team at SEE - Virtual Worlds for lifting a tip of the veil of what we can expect when the Entropia Universe See Planets will go live.
• Not only did we manage to get in touch with some of the official planet partners, but we also were able to secure a very warm and fruitful relationship with Alan, aka Flapman, the brain behind the indy project Planet PostModerna, which has its own little Planet PostModerna section on EntropiaPlanets. Thank you Alan, for lettig us enjoy the journey, and for sharing all the neat stuff that is involved in creating a game, but hardly ever seen by the players.
• EntropiaPlanets Wiki was added shortly after releasing the forum, and every day still, it grows. We have a fantastic team of dedicated people planning things, and with the contributions made by everyone in the community, I would say we are well on our way to ensure the EntropiaPlanets wiki will at some point be the leading source of information for quite a bit of Entropia Lore. Thank you, RAZER, Tass and wizzszz for your continuous efforts in improving and optimizing the wiki.
• We launched the EntropiaPlanets Tracker. This loot analysis tool has been temporarily taken offline for the time being in order to ensure we can focus on optimizing the code that drives it. This should be happening soon. At the same time, wizzszz has been working hard behind the scenes on the next generation client, which will offer an ingame overlay with an absolutely minimalistic footprint, meaning you will soon be able to see all kinds of additional information while you play, without your system being completely bogged down due to memory problems. Thank you, wizzszz, for your never-ending quest to improve and optimize EntropiaPlanets tracker.
• When Crystal Palace was sold by means of the Entropia Universe ingame auction last year, EntropiaPlanets was the first site to break the story, and we found ourselves being referenced by gaming news sites from all over the world. Better yet, not only were we the first to break the story, we were also the first to bring you an interview with its new owner, Buzz Erik Lightyear. Thank you Buzz, for the rare and exciting opportunity of not only watching gaming history being written, but actually being able to contribute a tiny little bit to the actual writing itself.
• Adopt a Newbie was started to try and match newly "born" Entropians with existing societies. The popular program is used a lot, and eventually Lykke had to transfer some of her duties to Dalas, who has been running the program together with her since. Thank you Dalas for enabling new players with an easy way to get entry to one of the most used social aspects of the Entropia Universe. We would also like to thank the leaders of all the societies who are opening up to accomodate for the new players, as without them, the program would not be as big a success as it currently is.
• Not only do we have some fantastic members working and collaborating closely that were already mentioned, but we also have some excellent newsreports: TotalTwist, VcBoy87, as well as a member of the technical crew TheMZ. We hope to soon be able to show you the fruits of his efforts, which will ensure yet one more step in the grand master plan of adding and integrating Entropia tools into a single signon web portal. Thank you, Twist, VcBoy and TheMZ for your work and efforts as well :)
• Just recently, we got in touch with the team behind the upcoming Real Cash Racing game Odyssey X, and found the team more than happy to give you insights into their project, scheduled to launch this fall. As a result, a dedicated subforum for Odyssey X has been set up on EntropaPlanets, giving you direct access to the team to supply you with answers to all the questions you might have about this new opportunity in the RCE spectrum of gaming. Thank you, Larry, Robert, and of course the rest of the team, for allowing us to pick your brains a little :)
• Apart from everyone mentioned above, we also want to thank YOU. Thank you for signing up with us, and for your support. Thank you for your amazing feedback, and suggestions. Thank you for being a part of our little family :)

We truly are flattered to be able to make a post like this, and we wish to let you know that we greatly appreciate all the support and kind words so far. We will continue to do our best to try and ensure EntropiaPlanets will offer the latest buzz about anything Entropia, whether it's from the familiar environment of Planet Calypso, or any of the other upcoming planet partners, while at the same time expanding and improving the set of integrated tools we offer. We are far from done adding services, and we hope to soon be able to reveal the next one of these.

We also will try and keep track of other gaming related news that might interest you. If you miss anything, feel free to let us know about it, and we will try and do our very best to meet your wishes.

Once again, from everyone here at EntropiaPlanets, thank you so much for your support. That's what keeps us going, and with reaching such a fantastic milestone, we are sure to be motivated even more. We truly feel blessed and priviledged to know you :)

To spread the joy around a bit, we will be donating 1 ped per member (or 1,000 PED / 100 USD) in everybody's name to the charity Save The Children, who work extremely hard to try and raise the quality of living for children worldwide. Lykke and myself have been supporting these guys and gals for a long time, and we think they do some amazing work. So your membership here also helps to support a good cause :)

And, finally, we will dust of an old event concept we used to run, and which was highly popular: Naked Cow Fisting. The idea is that we get as many people together as possible, all in their undies and armed with nothing more than TT Powerfists, and we'll go do some Armax fisting. In the past, these events were held around Minopolis, where spiders used to think they were up for an easy meal, but found themselves taken down by courageous fisters instead. To link the Cow Fisting to the 1k membership, we'll call it EntropiaPlanets Cow Fisting 1K instead, and aim for killing 1,000 Armaxes. So if you have not finished your Armax missions yet, this presents you with a great opportunity to get some more numbers out of the way :)
